Welcome to Week 6 of Season 9's "Do Something Challenge". I sure hope you all have not given up on this motivator Challenge! Not a lot of output this week at 9 entries (though we did more than double last week's totals), but I will chalk it up to busy summer schedules! With the 9 this week, we are now at a total of 63 pieces of music submitted in the first five weeks of the Challenge! Great job participants!! Here is a print screen of the spreadsheet (click on it or the link to see full sheet):

Kudos to all who have contributed so far to this Season!! Get out there and encourage others to join the Challenge and submit some entries ;~)) MUSIC, it's the best (and best shared)!!

Week 6 will run through August 09, so get on it and make some more glorious noises!

#Original (snippet, work in progress)
I wish I could finish more tunes faster, so I could contribute with more than one tune per season, but the stuff I am doing is not made in a day. However, I am going to post a snippet from a work in progress. That is a first timer and a little anxiety provoking.

Background is that my muse easily runs cold if I make four tunes on the same set up. At the same time I do not click with much gear made beyond 2010 or so. I am a retro hw nerd by default and do not like working 100% ITB. Thus I need different systems to change between, but they better not exceed more than three units or my working memory span and patience start hurting. I am setting up all my gear in such systems, and this is what I have come up with:

1. Miko TSE 100% standalone.

2. MC909 + Pianobox Pro (GM module)+ Boog D.

3. Macbook Pro w. Reason + JV1010 + Keystep bk

4. Macbook Air w. Reason + Yamaha SY77 + Polivoks

In the two latter cases, Reason is sequencer and runs drum samples and medieval instruments not onboard the hardware.

The snippet below is from a test of system 3, all but the guitar emus is made with JV1010. I really like its sound. It has passed my kiss-test by far (Keep It Simple, Stupid).

Thanks for contribution Gothi! If you would not mind, please edit your post above to include a tag of #original-song or #WRLJ (Wank/Riff/Lick/Jam), however you want it classified, I don't care, all up to you. It helps me ensure my count is accurate when I am doing totals ;~)) Great beat on that piece, I look forward to the final product!
