Exactly. It's still beyond me that someone really made this happen. Couldn't imagine any worse UI.

BUCKY = a forum member who has zero interest in a piece of gear. Less than zero interest, yet spends
a ridiculous amount of time posting to tell everyone how:

a) they won't be buying it
b) it's a dumb piece of gear
c) there's no practical use for it
d) it doesn't move mountains therefore it's shit
e) they won't be buying it

rinse wash repeat......
How about this idea…. put him on ignore. Just a thought.

Oh for me, it was night and day. I don't even mean other peoples, I just mean doing my own. I had the Kemper side-by-side with the QC back in 2021, and to me it was extremely clear that the Kemper was quite far away from the source amp, and the QC was a lot closer. Taken in broader context, I'd put the accuracy hierarchy like this:

1. NAM
2. ToneX (but on advanced training)
3. QC
4. ToneX (on fast training)
5. Kemper

I totally agree with this as far as 100% accuracy amp vs. capture/profile is concerned. It's been proven via null test pretty much to match this list. The thing about the Kemper is that it still produces an extremely usable Profile the majority of the time. For super high gain... not so much.

I've made high gain Profiles that absolutely suck, sound like crap compared to the amp and are unusable. The Tonex Captures of the exact same high gain amp blow the Kemper Profile out of the water. I also have low gain Kemper Profiles that I prefer to the physical amp or Tonex.

I'd like to try some QC Captures to compare. This little device is tempting but I just can't get on with the whole Cloud storage bit unless there is a way to create, store and manage all your Captures locally on your computer and not have to rely on the NDSP Cloud always being available in perpetuity. Is that still the case or can the QC create, store and manage Captures with zero internet or NDSP?

Kemper could go out of business tomorrow and everything I've created will still be available on my computer and the device will create Profiles and store them on a computer.

I have, and rightfully complained about Fractal's UX - they really need to remove at least 5 buttons. But you never left guessing what you're doing.
Seriously?

"ENTER. No, EDIT! Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!"

Check that video, particularly the sections about preset management, effects and captures. There're a lot of steps to go through without any real feedback, and a lot of "this random led over here will turn red when X happens".
Agree with you here, though. It's very reminiscent of EHX/ Digitech products of yore. (Built to a price point in a time when full-color LCD screens were less ubiquitous/ more costly.)

That's confusing, not obscure. Again, Fractal could really simplify it's button layout.

But it will never have you guessing what the color of a minuscule LED means for your effects chain.

Semantics. It's very much the opposite of "But you never left guessing what you're doing."
