So on the market, for people who already have boards full of drive pedals, compressors, reverbs, delays, whatever snake oil modulation pedal they absolutely love.... they've now got:

- Nano Cortex
- HX Stomp
- ToneX
- Bunch of TC amp pedals
- Bunch of UA amp pedals

This definitely seems like an area with a lot of competition.

I'm currently sitting on the KSR Ares, Pink Taco V2, Mezzabarba Skill, and 5153LBX.

Will definitely hold on to one but I'm thinking I'm gonna get the Nano, capture them all, and then sell three.
Spend $550 to probably bank about $5-6K? No brainer.

Most importantly I think I can sell that story to the wife easy! (y)
"Hey at this rate; they're paying ME for this gear!" :rollsafe:rofl

Don't sell your KSR. You'll regret it.

You gotta be better at anal, ToneX One $180 + ToneX Capture $250 = $430.
But then you still have that god awful UI and search engine to deal with. Worth at least $100 to me to never have to experience that dumpster fire software ever again.

I have a $200 VISA gift card for GAS extinguishing and I thought I would see a need, but no, I'm out. Already have a Stomp XL, so lets see what Fractal has in store next.

quite funny that making a capture only device means they don’t need to worry about modelling amps for that platform, the customers can do the work. No PCOM issues either.

Even though NAM and ToneX etc are more accurate, I hope Neural do a capture (player) plugin sooner rather than later.

I think this is a pretty good device imo.

$549, can capture on-device, and is not using IK Multimedia software. Thumbs up. They’ll sell a shitload of these things.

Despite the blandness of their effects, I think this would have been more of a home run if you could choose from their full catalog of effects for those types. They may yet be able to do that with updates, but then the Nano vs QV dev shit comes in. If they were going to include effects, they should have included more and more flexible placement of them. (But price, perhaps)

I’m just so out on capture-only mini pedals I can’t muster any interest. Capture devices are hell on earth unless you are digitizing your own personal rig, or are just an endless tinkerer.
I don't mind the fixed signal path, but not having the array of fx from the QC for the fx categories is a big miss. I didn't think you could do worse than the Kemper Player in this regard but NeuralDSP outdid them. Either this is straight up beta software put on sale, or it's just the cheapest processor they could find.

I think they could have done way better with the knobs too. It amazes me that nobody copies the very simple idea from the 27 year old Yamaha DG: Knobs that do double duty as amp and fx controls. Just use LED rings or a small display instead of motorized pots.

Agree on the capture-only mini pedals.

Huh, strong contender for me. I’ve been eyeing the Tonex, Tonex One, and Friedman IR series to pair with my HX Stomp for multiple reasons (dual amp setups, curiosity about “feel”), and this seems to fix a lot of my concerns with the Tonex pedals, and I don’t care about the FX really.

I don’t love having so little visual feedback for a unit at this price and size, but I could probably live with it for my use case.

May still go with the Tonex One for the price since I don’t super need MIDI (I would have already bought it, except I can’t play guitar right now due to injury), and the Friedman IR-X is cooler with the new update, but I’d 100% go with this over the full Tonex, no doubt.

I might have missed it, but does this have a PC / Mac editor as well? I’d prefer that to an app.

seems wild to me that they couldn't even be bothered to put a crappy vintage zoom type display on here

Great little box but the tones didn't hold up for me after a while.
Oh really? Interesting! I haven’t really heard much negative about the captures, more just the UI / UX. I’ve even seen some people prefer them to the QC captures, though both sounded good in comparisons I heard.

What sort of amp sounds were you not liking? I ask because I’m not super interested in high gain amps 90% of the time.

Neural DSP HQ many months ago........

Accounting: "$549 retail MSRP firm."
Sales: "It'll still have the screen though, right"
Marketing: "It'll be suicide if we don't have captures and models!"
Customer Service: "Only 1 delay, chorus, and reverb? I can hear all of the calls now."
Web Director: "We eliminate any key feature from the QC and the Internet's gonna explode. Especially TGF!"
Doug: "I hear everyone's concerns and could not agree more. Let's get it done team!"

*group cheers and fists fly into the air in triumph!*

Accounting: "What part of $549 did everyone not understand?"

:rofl

I should clarify that it was straight up DI in my use. All cabs/IRs off and the signal straight into a guitar cab.
