Then, why this over the $399 Tonex pedal?
Because:

- IK are IK. You have iffy software, crap customer support, a less elegant user interface on the device. This will be better to use.
- To make your own models for ToneX you need to buy more gear AND work out how to use it to get your models sounding right. This puts a lot of people off far more than you might imagine.
- people (rightly or wrongly) will perceive NDSP as a more modern, cool, futuristic cutting edge company. Even if the models aren’t as accurate as tonex, the average guitarist won’t know or care. Their mind will be made up based on brand perception. To them, they’ll think IK=Amplitube V2 and Neural is what all the cool youtubers use

I’m not interested in this product, but there is undeniably a demand for people to access Neural’s captures. Kemper took AGES to get something like this out and the ship sailed.

How are there already 10 pages!?… Is there a most need to know post? (And by that I mean who has written the funniest thing so far?) (Other than Whizzinby’s latest mic drop..)

I've seen a few complaints of combined expression & MIDI input, but I don't see the issue...? If you're using MIDI, you have the means of connecting an expression pedal elsewhere.

After Wallwartgate, who can blame them LOL.

That’s one way to solve it

If I were in the market for this type of widget, why would I go with this over the Kemper Player? They provide waaaaay more effects and have more foot switches/visual indicators so I know what preset in on.
I really don't think people get Kemper for the FX - they do have the basics indeed if needed. Generally one would build a nice pedalboard around the Kemper.

They're really making sure to include BASS/BASSISTS in the product page for the Nano Cortex, I guess I can see how this could be attractive to 'em... right?

I wonder what it will take to get back to excitement about new gear?

I could actually imagine a lot of things. Especially in case they came combined in one unit (or maybe in a way you could combine them flawlessly on your own). But I doubt they'd be of interest to too many people.

"We have the redesigned powersupply you requested! It's on amazon for you to purchase and designed by someone else!"

USB-C is almost as common place as USB these days. I got a few extra adapters lying around the house if anyone needs one.

You pay postage, of course.

Hmmm.

Traveling for a marketing conference, so I'm just getting up to speed, but I'm not sure if the use case here.

Why get rid of every QC differentiator and just make it a capture player with nerfed effects?! There are already several of those on the market.
Fair point, but IMO it looks to be significantly cheaper than one (Kemper Player) and significantly more full featured than the other (ToneX). Hopefully easier to use as well.

I don't know. It's cool. I'm tempted to order one before they inevitably sell out, if only to kick the tires. But if when really think about it, it just makes me want another QC. :)

Gotta love how a fixed signal chain was a sign of Kemper being stuck in the past, but now on Nano Cortex it’s the future of guitar rigs

Well, they're even saying it's because they wanted gapless switching (using what possibly isn't the most powerful CPU on earth as well) - which is sort of making sense on a device allowing for very little modifications within a single patch.

I know it's NDSP and how this forum feels about them. But boy have we all just taken a jaded approach on new gear.

I wonder what it will take to get back to excitement about new gear? Maybe it's a digital specific issue?
I’m super exited! I’m always exited about new gear, and I love the way we do it in this forum.

Honestly I believe that most people here are exited to, even if it’s not a product they’ll buy.

I won’t buy it… but it’s new gear, it’s fun. And I’ll probably succumb to my curiosity and watch every damn YouTube video within a week.
