New Headrush pedalboard: Headrush Prime

Tbh, possible hardware/build issues and careless customer support scare me off much more easily than the size or lack of constant firmware updates.

When it comes to digital/programmable devices, Mooer have lost me after my Preamp Live went brick. That's how you ruin business.

Size? Come on, if you're considering something like the Helix floor or Headrush Prime, don't act like you don't know what you're in for. These are meant to (ideally) replace a complete board. But geeks gotta geek, hence we assemble another pedalboard to go with that, and run it in the loop. :D
Reliability is king with these kind of products that are ment for the stage, if the quality isnt there then its a no go for me at least not that these big Headrush pedals really was in my focus for something i would buy. I have often gone with Boss products and even though i have used Boss since the 80´s i have never ever had any Boss product break down even if they were decades old and that speaks volumes.

No kidding!

It looks like a lot of fun. It’s fun seeing realistic looking pedal images, etc. I don’t know why. I had a lot of fun with the Digitech IPB-10 (R.I.P.) back in the day for similar reason. (anyone remember MediaMan and his repository of tips/tricks/etc.???) Anyway - talk about a chunky form factor. But it was fun dragging/dropping pedals, tweaking the effects, etc.

I’m periodically tempted by the HR line for that reason, but I know I’ll be disappointed with the tones and other things, so have been able to resist.
I'm really interested to know how this compares to the last gen HR stuff? I tried an MX5 as a backup device to my FMx's and liked a lot of things about it. But the tones simply felt flat/stiff/dead to me and the noise floor was much higher, so I ended up returning it.

Based on HR not really hyping major improvements in tone, feel, etc. I'm assuming it's the same as last generation? But it would be interesting to hear if users of both notice any improvements?

Unfortunately, the latency issue really dampings my interest no matter the response.

I feel the same way. I'm sorry but I just don't trust anything made by HR.

Is the latency issue real? Verified by several people?

There is a Rig configuration where the vocal and guitar inputs are separate... and the processing paths are separate.
What's not possible is routing the vocal and guitar to separate outputs (at least not via analog outputs).
Not sure when recording via USB. It may be possible to record vocal and guitar outputs separately.

That's a big whiff. Deal breaker for me.

If you're talking about Amp/Pedal Clones being subject to additional latency, yes... it is a real issue.
If you run a pair of Clones in series, it's annoying to the point of (for me) being unusable.
Thanks. Would love to see some examples or latency tests done at some point.

I love watching people say this thing is big, while they have pedalboards with a zillion pedals on them that is WAY less functional, but way bigger at the same time, not to mention frighteningly noisier
This depends a whole lot on how said pedal board is arranged and what's on it. More noisy I can agree on, but I don't think it's a big enough problem for most people.

To me the beauty of pedals is dedicated controls, the mix and matching and modularity. The bad part is all the power cables, patch cables and how to switch the pedals in a simple way. It would be nice if makers of digital pedals could provide digital inputs and outputs that would work at least between their own models.

Same goes for the (surprisingly common) complaints about the lack of an FX loop. I'm not sure what people would even expect to loop between to begin with.

Seriously???

All the stuff you run after a preamp, but before a cab sim and headphones, that's what. ;)

But Tonex is a profile loader? There's no "preamp" and "cab"; there's a NN, and a IR loader. And placing FX before, or after, the latter will basically make no difference whatsoever. IRs are not dynamic systems.

All in all, it's important to keep in mind this is a (comparatively) cheap device.

How long has Helix Floor been out?

How long until a video ToneX vs Prime ? (No need to answer...)
Actually, this I would truly like to see myself. You know something may not be dead nuts on perfect, but still sound fantastic. Sometimes for me, amps with their warts and all just are not... What I want.

They bought ReValver and BFD years ago
Hullo. I'm the BFD Product Owner. When I'm not actin' the fool on here, I'm working my sweet-ones off to get new versions of BFD out the door.

More or less you can thank ROLI for adding 6 years of latency to the BFD schedule! ;)

We've got lots of plans, and are all working hard, but we're a small team and it takes time.

As for Headrush Prime... I've not used one. There's no overlap between my role and the HR team, so I can't say anything useful really.
