NDSP Quad Cortex

I did it - I just ordered a QC. I actually wasn’t super interested in them for the money until I got a ToneX pedal, fell in love with captures and ended up putting it in the FX loop of an HX Stomp. This got me GASing for having all of that in the QC with a nice touchscreen. I also picked up Gojira to mess with that capability as well!

I thought I posted some pics here but maybe it was somewhere else. Just a few pics of the QC pedalboard.

New practice setup!

Tele wasn't getting as much love lately so I swapped out the Dimarzio noisless for my K-Line Signature pickups. Lots more clarity at the expense of some thickness and noise but sounds really good.

Then put the Quad Cortex on a Classic Jr board along with the Dunlop DVP8 pedal. I can't stand the feeling of the QC sitting right on the floor so this feels way more sturdy. Fished out my wireless Lakato units so I don't have to worry about cables. All running into my new Fender FR-12 which sounds killer.

Love the simplicity here. One cable (or wireless) into the QC, one cable to the speaker. No patch cables or power supplies to worry about, other than the world's flimsiest nasty Golden Profit piece of crap. To be fair it's never failed on me, but I hate the stupid plug that keeps folding up every time I try to plug it in and the really thin brittle feeling cord.

I really love the Amalgam Mark V captures that I got for ToneX - and alas they don’t have the Mark V for QC. What are y’all’s favorite Mark V captures? Free or paid!

you were talking about the TK earlier , have you checked out the new 64/ 65 Deluxe to see how it rates with the Plugin and Fractal

You should have seen the complete disaster my room was a few weeks ago, or heck even other corners now lol

My office has been a dumping ground of stuff for me, plus whenever I have to dig through boxes I wouldn't always put away timely, so it was a mess.

I got a couch to make it more livable and that is forcing me to keep it cleaner, which makes it more appealing to come down and play!

Yea right now I’m kind of in a period of evaluation with the Kemper Player. I bought it for use at work (I’m in the Navy). I wanted to have a quality amplification solution at work. In hindsight I should have picked up a Nano Cortex as this QC is amazing. Note, this is my 3rd attempt at the QC and there is just something about it now that I can’t ignore.

Honestly I've been tempted by the Kemper Player. Even though you have to pay for all the extra functionality, at least you do have all those effects available. Nano I think COULD be a killer in that area if they released all the effects. But both of them are limited without computer.

HX Stomp is really hard to beat in that segment but Kemper and QC likely outshine it in terms of amp feel, response, and tone with the right captures.

I’ve had the Stomp 2-3 times as well, and while it’s definitely like Coca Cola in that regard, it really does not have the feel of the Kemper or QC.

The Player is interesting for a few ways.

1) I don’t need a computer to edit. The iOS app is great.
2) The Player can connect to your phone via Bluetooth and you can play along to songs, backing tracks or lesson videos.
3) Levels make it a full fledged Kemper at a 1/4 of the size (albeit paid)

I upgraded mine to Level III and to be honest, it’s a really nice pedal. I love the QC workflow much better, but the Player really has a ton going for it.
