NDSP Quad Cortex

I’m very much in love with this thing. And the effects are great, I’m not sure where the complaints are coming from in that regard. I captured my Maxon OD and I’m not sure if I did something wrong or what, but where it lets you A/B the capture vs reference, the reference was just silent - so I have no idea if the capture is accurate. Any ideas?

Something is off. The reference should never be silent. Suggest reviewing with support.

There's a very strong Fractal presence here and compared to a Fractal device the NDSP effects are just "less" overall. Objectively NDSP effects have less variety, less adjustability, and less routing options. Subjectively NDSP effects don't sound as good (even that might be considered objectively true depending on what effect you're comparing at a given time).

But here's the thing. If you like the effects in the QC and they suit your needs, none of that matters. I definitely think the Fractal effects are "better" but the QC gets me what I really need. I'm happy with their effects.

Even from the Helix camp (I'm both Fractal and Line 6), both the QC effects selection and quality underwhelmed me.

QC didn't have and still doesn't have full models of what I consider to be modern overdrive pedals like the Horizon Devices Precision Drive, Fortin Grind (unless you buy the $100+ expansion pack that is the Nameless plugin) or Earthquaker Plumes. They haven't added or tweaked a reverb since CorOS 1.2, and there are no options for truly spacey, lush breathy ambient reverbs. Matter of fact, the existing spring reverb is triggedy trash, and some nice-to-haves like feedbackers and slow gear swells are also missing, as far as I know.

It's not all bad, by any means, and I could "get by" with what they have in the unit now. Not really what I want to say about a $1800 piece of gear with four years of development.

I think they are SLOWLY adding some better stuff and are filling in some spots
-
Like the new wah looks like it has a lot more control
The Circular and Dual Delay are solid additions
The plates are good ,

So technically they are colouring in the picture but yes the spring is awful and again their development has been slow as molasses thanks to the entire PCOM fup

This is why my Stomp isn’t for sale 😂

So again....not a completely new amp since CorOS 2.1, released August of 2023.

Not a single new or updated reverb since CorOS 1.2, released September of 2021.

It's almost 2025.

There was a completely new amp in the latest update.
Unfortunately there was not:

US DLX 65 Reissue (Fender® Deluxe Reverb ‘65 Reissue®) This device replaces US DLX Normal and US DLX Vibrato. The US DLX Normal becomes the US DLX 65 Reissue with the “MODE” parameter set to “Normal”, and the US DLX Vibrato becomes the US DLX 65 Reissue with the “MODE” parameter set to “Vibrato”.

They were replacements for amps that were already there

Yeah. There was.

I stand corrected. They added a 64' Deluxe Reverb hand-wired variant to go with the existing non-hand-wired 65' Deluxe Reverb. Reminds me of Headrush and the JCM800 variants they kept piling on as "new" amp models.

My point on the lack of progress stands.
