100% agree I don't like random stuff.

I've actually taken to buying a handful of pedals just so I could shoot my own captures and have full control over it.

I'm just over spending $$$$ for captures if I ever dabbled with a capture device. Given the QC has models and a good amount of onboard captures, I just don't see the marketplace as being a top priority given the other shortcomings. But that may just be me.

This might just be a matter of ignorance on my part. I didn't think you could have multiple amp blocks on FM3.

Yeah, but I don’t consider the FM3 the proper comp for the QC. Different price brackets. The FM9 doubles most block counts.

It's true; it occupies twice as many city blocks.

I think it's been proven pretty consistently the QC amp models stand up to if not surpasses (in some instances) the competition. Are all of them great? Nah, but you could even say the same for fractal

I had to buy a couple to test out the Tonex capabilities market wise but other than that I couldn't agree more.

When I finally bailed on the Kemper platform I'd amassed an ungodly amount of paid profiles.
Then one day you realize you only need a few killer tones to be happy, and you'd found those really early on.

The owning thousands of possibilities was equal parts ridiculous and embarrassing in hindsight.
Exactly like back in the cocaine days - repeatedly paying over and over again for another temporary fix.

Yep. The release date for 3.1 and the content it includes will determine whether @Whizzinby's #itshappening tag is legit. If additional plugin support is all that arrives and/or it takes more than a few months, then Houston we have a problem. I'm hoping, per their recent statement, that the next update will support a couple more licensed plugins and include additional native blocks (perhaps new, perhaps ported from other plugins.)

Just saying, you telling me “it’s been proven” doesn’t change what my ears heard. I can’t choose to un-hear something because someone else tells me they hear it differently

How can you question the accuracy of what I personally heard? Accurate according to what?

I’ve played enough gear for enough years that I like to think I have a pretty good grasp on what I want to listen for when auditioning a new piece of gear.

What I experienced playing it first hand, with my own guitars, dialing in and using the amps the way I actually use them, means a heck of a lot more to me than listening to some YouTube comparison clip.

Sorry, I just wasn’t a fan of what I heard in the amp models. And I heard a big difference between them and the Captures. I can’t go back and change that.

Maybe you or someone else hears it differently, that’s fine, but the way you hear it doesn’t change the way I heard it

Forgot to answer your 2nd question. I’m loving the update so far, but I’ve barely scratched the surface. The QoL stuff - folders, etc. - is very nice. I’d been spending more time with the FM3 before I left for vacation, so returning to QC is a massive improvement in terms of ease of use regardless. And I’m still finding great effects that were introduced in previous updates that I’d never used before. Good times.

Cortex Control is acting really wonky for me since the update. Anyone else seeing connectivity weirdness? M1 Mac.

The unit isn't lacking for amp sounds right now, especially in the "hot-rodded Marshall" category (which is pretty much where both of those live). The captures from Headfirst Amplification alone scratched the itch for me way back when.

It's the delay/reverb and synth where they are still waaaaaaaaaaaaaay behind. That's the only area of improvement that could possibly make me take another look. Archetype: Rabea would help, but I think they need Asato and Tone King to fully patch those holes, and....oh, look, I just spent $300 just to get it to offer things that are table stakes on competing modelers.
