Yamaha THR50iii with an FX loop, line outs like the 30 has, same wireless capability with individual controls for each FX with the ability to use more than one effect at one time, and an actual Yamaha footswitch so folks aren’t buying 3rd party solutions for midi switching - and I’d buy that in a heartbeat

That Yamaha Thr10ii and 30ii is just so good for what it is. I only wished the speakers where bigger so there was more warmth and depth in it.

While possibly being the closest, you still need to reach out for some menus and can't see everything at a glance. Plus, my imaginary amp would need to be appealing to those folks usually not willing to deal with digital stuff due to usability issues. Kempers, while still excellent in terms of onboard UI, aren't good enough for that.

Well. Yes. And defenitely no.

As said, look at a JVM 410. It's an amp loved by plenty of folks. You wouldn't need to add too much knobs to get very close to my proposed amp.

And fwiw, none of my rigs, regardless of whether it's my older anlog ones or my recent hybrid incarnations, had even remotely as many knobs as whatever pedalboards people are drooling over all the time.
It's not about the number of knobs. It's about them being the right knobs.

I'm putting together a little "knobs-are-good" amplifire-box rig and it doesn't take a lot to get a tone of functionality.

I'm putting together a little "knobs-are-good" amplifire-box rig and it doesn't take a lot to get a tone of functionality.

It's precisely the kind of board I will use for recordings when I don't feel like firing up my main board or using plugins. IMO the AFB's Bassman with some tweaks is still one of the best pedal platforms I ever used (including older analog amps).

I had a lot of fun with mine. I’d like to see a new version with added features based on user input. Such a killer idea with a solid form factor.

I actually do think that a good example of what the tube guys might do
It’s relatively compact but you have that $5000 price tag

Ampli-Fireboxes are underrated and the MKII at $199 is a steal IMO.

They are specific devices. Certain amp models are very good, IME, others...not so much. They are quirky. They will never receive a firmware update. They have this weird dynamic of offering so much beyond just amp/cab, but being such a pain to edit most of it that its not worth trying to use beyond a basic reverb and an X-decibal clean boost. But, yeah, I prefer it over the other options in its size for "I just want a little digital amp box". I got my MK I used from GC for $120.
