Hmm… I have a supposedly all-original 1981 MIJ SD-1 incoming. I know they’re not particularly rare, special, or valuable, but my original plan was to keep it stock.

But this thread made me wonder if I should remove those diodes…

I mean, I already have a SD-1W Waza for when I want the stock sound.

There are plenty of cheap used Taiwan models you could grab and mod.

This. I wouldn't advise to alter the vintage gem, rather try and find a cheap thru-hole variant. The ones from the 90s often go for under 50€ if you're a bit patient.
