Well I think he would be touched by our concern for his well being, which i think is normal here were like a small group of friends at a local watering hole, so if someone goes missing we will wonder
I learned a good lesson back when I was 18 or 19 and had just flipped my truck over. I took a couple days off from work after it and when I returned I had a couple people angry at me for not calling to tell them I was ok. I was a bit stunned and said “I didn’t think anyone cared” then got my head torn off for assuming that. In that particular job/context, I always felt I was just the guy that cracked jokes occasionally and not much more than that, but to the co-workers who were angry, I was their friend who also happened to work at the same joint as them.
Really, that was a bit of an epiphany moment for me that did a lot to pull my head out of the “I’m basically invisible to anyone but my closest friends” mentality I had for a long time.
