Line 6 POD Express

If by software you mean editor? Yes, but we can't talk about it right now.

If by software you mean firmware updates? There's already a POD Express bug fix update available.

Hey D.I.

Freakin' awesome product ! :) Astonishing product at an astonishing price point !

Just three very quick super nerdy questions:

1 => are the Amp Models included the "oversampling-fixed" current Helix models (?) or are they from the Pod Go "non-oversampling fixed" models (?)

2 => are the Cabs that are included the "new" IR shoots that were made for the new dynamic IR Cab feature -or- are they the legacy cabs ?

Lastly, I know it doesn't explicitly have Midi I/O but I have used my Dore Midi USB Host Controller successfully in the past on several units to add basic Midi PC [and sometimes Midi CC] functionality to units that have just a USB I/O connection and USB Audio Built in ... its not cheap [cost me US$60] but paired with something like the Paint Midi Captain-or- the MC6 MKII [which is what I use] it would add enormous live functionality

3 => any reason you can see why using this Dore-Midi-Host-Converter wouldn't also add basic Midi Control to this new pedal ?

Even if its a *no* to all 3 questions its *still* an astonishing product at an astonishing price point !

Many thanks,
Ben

Badass. (And we’re witnessing the death of the premium tier modeler and amps, when it ultimately becomes commonplace for pedal sized device to cost a couple hundred dollars while being capable of housing the history of guitar amps and effects. We’re not that far off, seeing how much improvement there has been recently in the small/budget line space  )
Nah. I have the PodGo and the HX Stomp and there are distinct differences in the high end stuff that make it high end. It’s the same thing with recording gear. Once you hit a limit and know you can surpass it with the better gear, the itch will never cease. That being said, my PodGo is getting a lot more play right now because toan.

We aren’t there yet, but it’s coming.

Hell Line 6 is almost there minus the “not our customer, totally our customer” product differentiation. :ROFLMAO:

So HX algorithms running for up to 6 hours on freaking batteries.

There has to be an ARM processor in there 🤔
An HX Stomp draws 0.9A@9V=8.1W.
The POD Express according to the manual draws 0.5A@9V=4.5W.

This is substantially less, only about 56%.

A typical AA battery has 3Wh, 3 of them 9Wh.
That would be 2 hours battery life for the POD Express (1.1 for the Stomp).

EDIT: It turns out the POD Express actually is ARM based so my HX Stomp comparison isn't saying much. And the figures given in the manual are very conservative according to Digital Igloo. Given this information 150mA seem reasonable.

9Wh / (0.15A * 9V) = ~6 hours
How is it powered?
POD Express ships with three AA batteries, which’ll give you about 6 hours of play time, but it also supports rechargeable AAs. Or use the Line 6 DC-1 power supply (sold separately) or your favorite 9V power supply or power brick (150mA or greater).

Wonder how many people would prefer to control the Gain, Bass, Middle, Treble by default and use Alt to change Effect/Amps. I'd probably tweak BMT and Reverb settings the most.

The types need to be printed on the face, which means they have to be primary, even if they’re used less often.
