The current Pod Express hardware and firmware exposes Midi In and Out on the USB.

Whether or not Line 6 takes advantage of this already (or in a future update) or documents this is another question.

Quickly tweaking knobs, changing presets, etc did not display any activity on the Midi Monitor.

Might be worth another look here given the new editor. I've moved on from the Express for other reasons....

With the release of the editor ...I don't think there is any doubt that the PC Editor is "talking" to the unit via normal Midi - PC and CC at least

For Midi Monitor to respond and show you the PC's and CC's for each knob / switch / turn etc..... you will need one of these => USB to Midi Host Converter between your Midi FSW and the P.E

I've used the Dore USB Midi Host linked above on many devices that didn't "officially expose" their midi specs and that only had a USB port - its always worked a treat .... plug it in, load up a basic midi reader program [ Midi Monitor ] ..... hit buttons and turn knobs etc..... and Midi Monitor will instantly show you what PC's and CC's are attached to each button or knob or control etc......

I'd happily grab a P.E and give this a go ...... but as the amps and efx are the pre-aliasing-fix algorithms that are in the Pod Go ... and as I heard a big difference when the aliasing was "fixed" ... I just cant go back ... even for a small 2nd / backup rig :(
