Line 6 POD Express

But like all non-helix-floor L6 products, it makes me ask the age old question “shouldn’t I just buy a Stomp instead?”
While I totally agree, I can think of at least a couple of reasons:
1. The POD Express is 1/3 the price of an HX Stomp... At least where I live
and
2. The POD Express is easier to use. I have more or less permanently lent out my Stomp to our bass player. And while I have helped him set it up with a limited number of effects and presets, he still has a hard time using it. The POD Express would be much easier for him and he could easily take it with him and use it as a very portable practice solution. Don't get me wrong, the Stomp is also very portable, but the POD Express is smaller, significantly lighter and can be powered by batteries.

I think I might need to send my bass player a link...

220€ at Thomann. With Ampero Mini being 225€, this would be a very hard sell, for me.

Grumpypants achievement unlocked!
222€ with Finnish 24% VAT. That's only 4 euros more than the Boss IR-2 so it's clearly priced against that.

Ampero Mini is certainly tough competition, though no knobs = eww.

F.w.i.w .... from a quick comment by D.I at TOP ...... and despite my querying above .. it very much looks like

=> as the Amp models and EFX are from the POD Go "world" ...... they dont have, and cant run, the newer updated oversampling Amp algo's

=> the Cabs are probably the newer Cab shoots and not the old legacy Cabs

Doesn't take anything away from how amazing this little box is :)

That was pretty expected at this price point. Not being able to swap the IRs to your liking is a bummer as that can elevate these boxes a good bit, but it seems you can at least choose amp model X to use the cab model from amp Y.

Totally agree. Was just curious when I posted my questions.

Re: alt button. I despise how on the Tonex I have to long press the "alt" button in order to go into alt mode. And then I forget that I'm in alt mode, try to adjust the mids and I adjust gate threshold. I'd love to have the hold alt + something else option on the Tonex.

I can understand that. That's why one click toggle or double click is usually better than excessively long hold.

Hard pass… seems line 6 is churning out nickle and dime stuff to fill their coffers lately. Not impressed. Save your dough fellas if you have a fractal or helix or qc why bother? Cause it’s so easy to part with

It's already listed for presale in Europe as well, at ~200€.

NGL, i'm this close to ordering one solely as a practice tool. I currently use a Spark Go for that, but 90% of the time i'm running it with headphones, and i muuuuuch prefer Helix tones.

I’m in the same boat. Spark Go speaker isn’t that great and this would sound much better in headphones. Also not needing an app to adjust presets/settings is a big plus.

So HX algorithms running for up to 6 hours on freaking batteries.

There has to be an ARM processor in there 🤔
$180 and 150mA. I have footswitches that are more expensive in both regards LOL. Go with high capacity rechargeable AAs (as I was harping on above), and this thing will run for a couple of days.

We aren’t there yet, but it’s coming.

Hell Line 6 is almost there minus the “not our customer, totally our customer” product differentiation. :ROFLMAO:
I think there are hardware constraints that are hard to get the price down on simply because the music industry will never sell enough of any item to bring the cost down.

For example, if I was a professional bassist the Pod Express Bass might be just what I need sonically, but I’m also going to need an XLR output, and presumably a more robust enclosure (though for all we know these pedals are built like plastic tanks). And depending on what my gig actually is as a professional, I may want fancier routing that only a more expensive processor can handle.

That’s actually what I was looking at getting, before this came out.
The Mooer is $70 more expensive (though not for long, I'm sure) and significantly more difficult to use. And I'm just about certain the POD Express will sound a zillion times better.

Ah well. At least I got a decent deal on the Mooer. If I move fast, I might be able to get a few bucks back... to put toward a POD Express...
