Line 6 POD Express

The Pod Express works well with Loopy Pro running on an iPad via the USB interface. Presumably an iPhone would work as well. Other looper software would be fine as well.

You select the RECORD input and JAM output on the iPad to record the modelled sound and have the Express play it unaltered. Turn the monitoring of the input off in Loopy Pro (or else the sound will double). To put the looper in the front (to audition sounds as you tweak settings), you can choose Input Mon and Reamp to record the dry sound and have the Express process it.

You'll also likely want footswitches to control the looper (assuming autostart/stop or onscreen buttons are not cutting it or you). I used the $20 MVave Chocolate (in MVC mode) via Bluetooth to the iPad [The Pod Express's switches don't send Midi]

If your iPad has the old lightning interface, you'll need the "Lightning to Camera Adaptor"; a straight lightning to USB cable won't work.

Was just going to ask about next  What kind of play time are you getting out of AAs?

Eneloops are quite cheap these days, so i'd probably never bother with an external power supply for the PE.
Yeah that's my question too.

I just got mine today for my birthday so will try to find out tomorrow with my rechargeables...

I've had mine about two weeks. Quite impressed actually. Especially running into monitors or headphones. I already knew about its fx limitations and use a multi fx beside it. The two together make for one hell of a cheap, portable, effective rig.

The models are really good. My biggest gripe is the tap tempo syncing all fx. I need slow modulation and then echos in time with song, hence the use of a multi fx.

It's only 7 amps but if they are not throwing panties at you after 3 amp changes it ain't gonna happen brah

@Digital Igloo, is there by any chance enough processor resources to add in a short/long press detect routine for FS3 & 4 so as to provide an additional 2 foootswitches for effect on/off control? Essentially FS3/4 short and FS3/4 long control signals.

I am really digging my PE (I have the guitar model), I use FS3 and FS4 to control the drive and delay, but I occasionally need to switch the modulation and reverb as well, and doing it by hand whilst playing is very inconvenient, so being able to control them with a long press would be great. My FM3 has short/long footswitch press detection and it really comes in handy to provide direct switching control using the 3 switches. If the PE had that capability for FS3 & 4 that would be excellent and a very useful added capability.

I used the PE last night to jam with one of my old friends, was very pleased with it (although will need to do some tweaks, first experience using it "in the wild", so to speak, so not everything was exactly as desired, but at least in the ballpark).

One very annoying thing about it is the brightness of the white "ON" LED, I cannot see any of the surrounding labels in a somewhat darkened room. Fortunately, I have some of the Warwick Rockboard white LED covers I had previously used for a pedal with an obnoxiously bright white LED indicator, and the small size fit perfectly over the LED on the PE and only covered a small amount of the text. It's self adhesive and can be easily removed if I want to use the unit in daylight outdoors. It worked perfectly - the LED is now maybe 1/5 as bright and the surrounding text is easily visible.

This is the white cover: https://shopwmusicdistributionusa.c...amper-diffractive-cover-for-bright-leds-5-pcs

Amazon has only the large size in white, not the small, large covers up too much text. They do have a jeweled variant in small which may be fine, search for "Damper Jewel Small, inside Diameter 8 mm (5 pcs.)"

Those led dampers are excellent. A lot of my early builds had some stupidly bright leds and the covers did a great job on them.
