Don't most IEMs have limiters built in to keep users from harming their hearing?
Not necessarily (but yes, sometimes they do). And in my case, almost never as I try to bring my own small mixer just for myself whenever possible, running a split signal of my guitar stuff into it, hence muting it on the house's IEM feed. That way, my guitars sound absolutely the same as at home (minus the difference between the used headphones).
