Just when i thought i was out, Fractal pulls me back in...

those glorious sounding VP4 clips floating around these days have me wondering if i should give the FM3 another go.

Man, i'm really happy with my Helix gear these days, but those glorious sounding VP4 clips floating around these days have me wondering if i should give the FM3 another go.

I still much prefer Helix for stompbox models, but i'm lusting those rack-sounding Fractal effects now...

Please lie to me and tell m the UX gotten better since release! :verynice
ANYTHING in the vp4 is already in the fm9..not sure about fm3.

I had a slightly different story.

I was thinking about selling my Axe FXIII and FC-12 foot switch because I was reconciled to the fact that I'd never be able to gig with it as I am dangerous behind the wheel and lugging it without a car would be back-breaking.

I had listed it on Reverb for a killer price of $2200 (at least I think it was killer compared to what I paid) for both the unit and the floorboard on Reverb and was playing the waiting game, when I thought, "Hey, why don't we fool around with the Axe FXIII tonight and pair it with our Darkglass Microtubes 900 bass amp (which is something else I was thinking of selling). I'll also the Warwick Vampyre SN-5 bass that I had also listed!".

Sat down and spent some time experimenting with the tone. I used the Axe FXIII for a compressor, a bass overdrive and a cab, as well as to create a stereo path so that I could blend the DI signal with the Darkglass Microtubes signal that I had dialled in. Ran the bass into the Axe FXIII, which was routed into the Darkglass and then back into the Axe FX.

End result? One of the best bass tones I've dialled in my whole life.

Within a few hours of playing, I took down all the listings.

And I think that's the great thing about the Axe FXIII for me. I can use it in so many ways. I can use it as a tone generator, I can use it as a tone sculptor, I can use it as a signal router. I can use it as an audio interface, I can use it as a way to hook up another guitarist...

I'll just be using it in the studio, but that's fine. I have a lot of amps and the experiment also gave me a few ideas on how I could use them with the Axe for better tones.

First couple gigs I brought my FM9 to I had my laptop in my truck, but after not using it once I stopped bringing it.

I use my FM9 regularly with my band, and have never needed to use the editor to tweak things on the fly. Anyone that needs to go that deep in a band setting wasn’t prepared to begin with. And I don’t even use the performance page…

Well I'm not going to lie to you ... if you like or prefer on-unit adjusting, nothing has significantly changed - but it is better than it used to be.

Are you gigging with your unit ? or is it home use playing / recording only ?

Whilst GAS is real .... it passes very quickly within a day or two ... or within a week or so of buying the newly-GAS'ed product :)

Am I the only one who thinks some of the UI simplification is going to be ported over to the FM and Axe Fx as optional changes (a bit like the Ideal/Authentic options on the units)? It only makes sense to me, but I also thought the large font screen of the FMs would be coming to the Axe Fx III soon, too, so what do I know!

I'd love to see that, but like you said, the Axe-Fx still doesn't have that large font option.

With Fractal, you can expect any sound related features to make it to the other units if it's feasible, but for anything UI, all bets are off.

I think the next incarnation will show that
