Oh, it's been fully designed for years, and IMNSHO it's the best standalone pedal switcher that no one will ever see, because the run rates just aren't high enough. It'd also cost quite a bit more than you expect.

Not with a digitally-controlled analog matrix.

Yeah I could totally see that. Companies like RJM that have the pro switching and control rigs don’t need to worry about the mass marketing of retail. On the flip side if you want to compete with the retail companies you have to cut a lot to make it competitive.

There's always a chance. If big, expensive pedalboard switchers become a standard, we may be forced to revisit. In the meantime, we have other ideas that might just bridge the gap.

All is good, BUT, I didn't save my presets as separate presets, I just made a backup, so, I'm going to have to overwrite all the new factory stuff with my backup? Is that how that works?

Depends where you saved your own stuff.

Just in a folder called "Backups". The entire backup is one .hxb file though.

I mean on the Helix when you created your own presets. if you wrote over the factory presets then doing factory reset will overwrite yours. If I am understanding you correctly.

Anyone have any good instructions on how to open up an Helix without fucking it all up and destroying it??? My page buttons are a little sticky and not always effectively, and I have the dreaded squeaky expression pedal problem too.

I'm hoping beyond hope that maybe some daughterboards or something could be made to add to Helix's DSP power. I really can't see anything else really needed to keep up with whatever comes next, except possibly running out of DSP. I can see it possibly being done, but may not be in any way feasible

Something modular that could be put together like an expanding puzzle would be cool. Or maybe a Helix Uno™ that has a dual use switch that can run one amp and cab/IR and it could be the size of a nano stomp. They could also offer other Uno's with pre and post fx @ 199 a pop.
