I am pretty sure the ~ after the 9v is an indicator that it is 9 volts AC.

For whatever reasons, some devices require AC. Some PODs do, the M13 does, the Whammy II does. These are the ones I own(ed).

So weird - seems like if you’re going to go through the headache of significant voltage conversion outboard might as well have the rectification there too. Ahhh, the 90s…

Yes, when you said it isn’t DC, you were correct. The picture Boudoir posted looked like 9v AC and I looked it up and the wall wart is in fact a 9v AC power supply. That would be a very good reason to have a different connector!

The units mentioned all had. And the VAmp 2 even went beyond a barrel plug.
