Helix Talk

I'm sure this will cause triggering pain, copium and calls for deletion, but the PodGos have totally taken over hawaii after everyone sent their QC's back. Even in the lower budget area, a few of the reggae bands got them and found that they worked great for guitar, bass and Vocals???? you can't throw a rock without hitting one.

Turn off the cabinets and they can make bright spanky treble into deathly daggers of ice treble blasters that the reggae guys can't get enough of

Which island are you on? My wife's family has a bungalow on Kealakekua bay south of Kona on the big island.

I'm not sure if you're joking. I play in Oahu and have played on the other islands as well and have not seen a single one used live here.

Not at all, if the bands aren't using the amp list on our rider, they're bringing the podgos to everything lately. Where are you playing? Have you seen Sessions in Kailua?, (formerly Porky's). Seems like that super small stage setup is gonna be the norm around here now. I wonder if we're about to see the end of acoustic drums on anything smaller than Hawaiian Bryan's

I am ready for 3.6.

Even just the temperature of the knobs usually gives it away that they can't be plastic.
Fun science fact: in a room/environment that has been at a steady temperature for a while, metal isn't actually colder than plastic and other materials. It just feels that way, because what we perceive as hot or cold is actually the rate of thermal energy being transferred to or from our skin. We can't actually sense temperature directly. We can only tell how fast heat flows in or out of our flesh when we touch something that is a different temperature than ourselves.

The rate of heat transfer is determined by the size of the temperature difference as well as how thermally conductive the material we touch is.

Because metals are quite thermally conductive, a metal part at room temperature transfers heat from your hands faster than things like plastic, which are much less thermally conductive. If you've ever picked up a block of styrofoam that has been sitting outside in the freezing cold for days (assuming it doesn't have snow/ice/frost on the outside), you'll notice it doesn't feel very cold at all. But it actually is the same temperature as everything else outside. :)

Ahhh, I've heard of Sessions but I haven't been there. I mostly play the venues in town - Republik, Moani Waikiki, Hawaiian Brian's, NextDoor because that's where the bulk of the work is.

bulk of the work we're getting right now is backyard parties....Not that I mind the money, but please tell me how so many people who are supposed to be totally scraping by poor can afford 50,000 dollar backyard parties right now.

What style are you playing and do you need more gigs?

That’s very interesting. When did you buy yours? Was it from a dealer or second-hand?
I bought it used a few days ago. But the seller provided a receipt from Thomann with the date June 2022. So my guess is that Thomann, selling so large volumes, was able to receive “corrected” units last year. That’s why I bought it… if I had bought a PG off the shelf here in Sweden I could very well have got a 2020 unit.

It’s a little shame that so few “forum” people have kept track on this. I found one person on Reddit who was nerdy enough to take pictures of the circuit board before sending it to L6. It came back with the c124 removed.

If more people were like us, we could’ve had some kind of serial nr data. But again, PG is not a top contender amongst our crowd.
