Fractal Talk

@eggpl@nt I've got a pretty beaten up POG2 that I should pull out and try match a little closer. Such a great pedal.
octaver effects aren’t something I think to use often, but whenever I do, it’s fun to just riff with a droning low note and some tweedly notes thrown into the mix.

I can’t remember if it’s a factory preset or one of your presets, but I’ve had some fun with the octaver distortion as well.

It would only be fair to model the SSV2 now.

Yeah, I'm sure @FractalAudio is over it to some extent given the number of Friedmans in there already, but that does seem like a ridiculously natural fit. I can live without the JEL, JJ100 or Butterslax. All cool amps, I'm sure, but I've yet to hear a uniquely singular tone demoed from any of them or recorded onto an Alice in Chains, Red Dragon Cartel or Mastodon record.

Somebody recently posted a thread on the Fractal Forums you might want to check out:

I saw the name of the OP on that thread:

and immediately thought of this! :)

Someone once tried to repackage the wiki as a personal exercise (no profit, etc; this was done by the person to work on a particular skill, though I can’t remember which), and they got mauled by several of the always-online posters on the FAS forum. Lots of accusations of ripping off yek and such.
You are very much mis-characterizing that.

They were just lifting the content and moving it to their own server.

It wasn't the wiki. They took literally @yek's amp guide and put it on a website they owned. Verbatim.

For everyone who shit's on the wiki I say to you: put up then. It's a community resource and, honestly, it exists through the hard efforts of @yek alone.

Be the change you want to see in the world.

Well their website is dead, so I can’t argue one way or another. I still don’t understand the hubbub. It was a free, public repackaging of a free, public repackaging of a bunch of free, public posts.

I was actually the one who called him out on it (since I was still on one of the FB Quad Cortex groups so saw his post at random) and pointed Yek to the thread. Others were praising the guy for his work (without being aware of the ripped off content) which was just not right since all he did was compile it.

I tried to explain to the guy why what he was doing was wrong, but he seemed more pissed off about being caught. It's one thing to refer to content, write your own interpretation of it and provide sources, and a totally other thing just blatantly copy/pasting it and claiming it as your own work.
If I remember rightly, this was what caused me to start my piss take thread called "Is there anything in the QC that wasn't stolen from something else?" thread, and got me banned for "provocative" posting.

It's what I always say about you. That provocative British gentleman, always stirring the pot and making people think and question their preconceived notions in this world.

@Whizzinby some POGy stuff towards the end of this vid

Video made me want to unpack the FM3 waiting for the Axe. :ROFLMAO:

Such a great video, because a lot of your blocks I just sort of use, but never really dug too deep in to the settings. Awesome hearing you walk through the how and why for each of them. Those Dual Detunes and Detune Delays are epic, but I think I’ve overlooked the Quad Detune, that was tasty.

The POG sounded great. I think my problem was likely shoving the Pitch block after the cab, and not moving it before the amp when specifically wanting to do the Pog thing. Having two pitch blocks with the Axe will make this seamless. Those filter block settings I’ll have to revisit. That’s some doctorate level shit I would not have thought to try. Sounded awesome, and it makes a lot more sense after watching/hearing someone running through it. :beer

That’s not how it works.

The original content was not a "repackaging of a bunch of free posts" -- the author was the same in both cases. It was their IP and it was stolen. The website creator didn't even credit the source of any of the information until they got blasted for ripping it all off.

Edit: correction, the author @yek, gave permission for the content to be repackaged as a PDF.

The preface of the amp guide, written by simviz, very clearly states the guide is a collection of yek’s various forum posts on dedicated amp models.
