Fractal Talk

You misinterpreted my shrug! 🙂 I was playing along with what you were saying and your sarcasm. Y'know... conspirationally?
Huh....maybe mine's the one that's broke......

one complaint I am seeing on The FAS forum for the FM3 , I kid you not

One user states his boot time has gone from 15 second to a full 32
Was it really a complaint though? (I didn't read it.) It's in Beta right now, and people report everything they notice (as they should), even if it doesn't necessarily negatively affect the experience, in case something innocuous is related to something important, or gives the devs a clue to something they may need to check closer.

Yeah I'm consistently doing this any time I use dynacabs now. Definitely adds some more vibe and mimics the "close enough is good enough" workflow with real mics.
I've found that even with single mics - i like adjust to the align rather than using low pass filters - sounds more natural to me. First learnt about this from some of the ML Soundlab videos for Mikko 2

Well that's going to ruin your gig for sure :facepalm
Most of us are used to tube amps taking a while to warm up, so you turn it on, pick up a guitar, tune it and then flick the amp off standby. Long startup times for modelers are exactly the same thing.

Doubling boot time is definitely a lot. I remember when Line6 Helix halved its boot time with a firmware update and how nice it was that it booted so fast. It meant that I could get playing just that tiny bit faster and since I don't just leave my modelers running all day long, it meant that "hey maybe I'll play for 15 minutes" was a more common occurrence.

While it's not exactly going to ruin anyone's day, having fast boot times makes it more pleasant to use.

Kemper boot time felt like an absolute eternity. Wasn't a big fan of that, despite it not being some sort of catastrophic issue.
It's weird how those things add up and how your frame of reference matters.

After getting a M2 Macbook Pro which pretty much wakes from sleep almost instantly with its built in screen, it's annoying that my Samsung display takes about 3x that long to display picture from the same laptop. With my previous Mac, never even considered it because both took about the same time.

I've even ditched the factory presets (which I never used) on my Fractal because it was supposed to help with boot times. Not sure how much it does.

Even if it was 1 minute I don’t find that excessive
Now 30 minutes to capture and amp that’s getting excessive ( I am looking at you IK media)

I’ve been musing over some of the (sometimes very loosely) teased features/models and products under the Fractal banner. Have I missed any?

With the exception of CabLab 4, I wonder what from this list will eventually see the light of day. The LB1, for example, was spoken of in rather definitive terms, but that was almost 7 years ago.

Then there are other “what will happen?” items such as the FM3 USB-A port and the Amp Matching patent.

that's like......the whole point of a beta. (y)

I suspect and FM3 turbo with the MK2 chassis w the bigger screens at some point

I think boot times have a certain subtle influence on the perception of the overall user experience. I doubt it would ultimately sway anyone from a great platform, but we’ve all had gear/tech where an excessive boot or shutdown time grates on our nerves.
