Fractal Talk

Noooo! Don’t give him any ideas! We need him to stay focused on the Amp block. We need more Marshall models!

I think I am glad I have not dug through the Fractal forum too deep lately. It sounds like that thread is something to miss.

From everything I have read on the X-3 update, I am looking forward to the full release of it for the FM9. I don't typically install beta versions so when it gets to a full release, I will install it for sure.

It continues now we have a chart to follow , in case you missed it in the past 12 pages
The chart is a good result from what has otherwise been a largely intractable discussion. It nicely summarizes the differences between the two reset methods and communicates that information in a quickly consumable format. I'd rather have a chart than pages and pages of discussion to wade through if I wanted to understand the subject.

The chart for the wiki is excellent and certainly useful.

But I also would like to see some boilerplate in the firmware README that looks something like:

* If you want to update ALL your presets....[here's how]
* If you only want to update specific presets...[here's how]
* [Other uses cases....idk....maybe something like "if you later find that you want to update a specific preset or a specific channel...or whatever...]
* [And some sort of language pointing out that everything will be using the new algorithms regardless.]

Of course, the problem with anything written is that it can be ignored, so maybe the update process needs improvement...

I do think that thread would crack the top 3 of stupid even here 😂 people get their questions answered and the same question that was just answered will be posted 3 comments down and the cycle continues 😬

I took a brief look at the thread, got thoroughly confused about how one should update the device, and backed out of the thread slowly. I’ll wait until I forget what I read there, then go read the wiki and see if I can figure out what to do. Surely it can’t be that hard really….

I do have some presets I’m concerned about preserving, but it’s mainly the effects stuff I care about. The amp sounds I have are the ones I quickly dialed up upon getting the unit, nothing I couldn’t recreate relatively quickly. And I really want to re-do those anyway.
