Fractal Talk

Unless you are doing legit A/B tests that big hit of 'moer realer' is just a big hit of placebo.

Absolutely!

Otherwise the Axe had to have sounded not very good at some point in the past for each of the subsequent major updates to have been noticeable as a perceived improvement to the number of forum folks who've posted about them thru the years.

And the last time the Axe got a negative review about its sounds was......... never. :giggle:

There's always some placebo involved when we're talking about audio equipment that a person's invested a decent amount of money into.

Yeah I think that’s the thing, at this point no revision is going to be a revelation, but added up over time it has a cumulative effect. Like TV’s that 10/20/30 years ago people would argue couldn’t possibly get any ‘moar better’, but have in fact consistently improved. I’m sure modelers in 10-15 years will be notably better, but it won’t be terribly noticeable in any update or revision on the way there.

In the interim we pray for the Fractal plugin player and for all the amps to be grouped together. :ROFLMAO:

Don’t know when/it the firmware will hit the fm3 but the difference I hear on this test are absolutely awesome…

The plexi is really breathing!

I just can’t imagine the improvements in feel too!

really hope for my poor man’s fm3

Do you have a timestamp when they compare?

I like this analogy, but at the same time new technologies had to replace the old ones from CRT to LED, OLED etc. or whatever the kids use these days :)

AMEN!!! Native FAS right?

They say Native will never happen so Cliff doesn’t have to run the risk of having his code ripped off, so I long for him to release his equivalent of the Universal Audio Satellite etc. A Fractal box we can run the plugins from, or even a basic audio interface that they can run from. People want a million different footswitch layouts, but I think the biggest gap in the Frac lineup is the ability to use these tones as plugs.

I would buy this FAS dongle :) as long as it is under 600USD more or less.

Such as?

I am not dissuading conversation. I’m engaging in it.
The Axe doesn't have any granular delay type of effects so it's not a good fit for warbley and lofi music. I would love it if Cliff took some time to work out some slightly more modern digital effects, i appreciate the improvements in amp modeling but tbh it's kinda wasted on me at this point.

Would love to hear some examples of what you're talking about.

One thing I slightly struggle with on the Fractal delays is getting the repeats exactly where I want them. Feedback controls can be tricky to land where they don’t die out too soon or don’t go to the other extreme and start oscillate. And I’m sure there is a control for it, but sometimes the first repeat can be a touch strong, and bumping down the mix control only weakens the rest of the repeats. I need to YT some of the delay controls, I bet LT probably has covered it somewhere.

And I only say slightly struggle, because they sound so good most of the time I don’t care if I can get them dialed perfectly. :ROFLMAO:

Mix controls the level of repeats, Feedback the quantity...
