Fractal Talk

One more important and awesome thing about Layout Links: they're available not only for global layout buttons but also for per preset overrides. Like, for my two different preset browsing layouts, they're both global on my FC12, but for the two examples I named, for harmonies and for turning on and off effects in a particular order, those would be ones you'd want to program as per preset Layout Links.

And I'm not and owner of an FM3 or FM9, but I'm guessing this feature is probably available on those units too.
Alls I know is, if I ever decide to gig again, I know who to ask! :rofl

It's not what you know, but who. :rollsafe

I plugged my AxeFx after about 1-2 weeks of fiddling with other stuff...

I like going back and forth between Fractal gear and tube amps. Right now I'm alternating between my FM9/FR-12 rig and a Rivera Suprema Jazz Recording.

I like the 6505+ a lot.

When it comes to high gain that amp is the one I always come back to. To me it has the perfect combination of character and tightness: any tighter and I don't feel the character, any more character and it becomes less articulate. I think the designers hit the sweet spot with that design, and I always just have fun when I'm playing it.

Now that you've had some time with FAS gear, what's your overall opinion?

It's great, the models are accurate and respond like real amps.
I've only used the Drive, EQ, Amp and Cab blocks so far, pretty much what I use with real amps.
Yes, the FEEL thing is real, as much as I hated to admit that before, a LOT of it has to do with impedance curve and power amp modeling.

Glad it's giving you the response you were hoping. I'm the same except I put mic misalignment in place of EQ. I've owned the Axe-FX III and FC12 for years now, but I still mostly make four block presets, and to me it's totally fulfilling, plus I've learned what many amps I never tried in the real world can do for me.

I need to dabble and explore more with the Band. I just get so locked in on my fave JCMM800 based
Presets/Models that I don't go elsewhere. I don't channel/scene switch within songs ever. Just get
on the Effects Layout and use the Footswitches like Stomps, so I can turn on/off Drive/Delay/Reverb.

I have used a Mark IV based Preset for some heavier drop B/C stuff we are doing. The 800s can do that
but don't hold up as well to my ears with the extended lows.

I've dug the Bogner XTC Models (Blue with a Boost) and the JVMs with the Band.

I guess I just like to play when I have those precious few hours a week with the guys. So I never explore
outside of my little Sandbox much when I am there. I bet they appreciate that!

Give the CCV 2B and 2C models a go if you want JCM-y tones that go well with lower tunings. Trick with those models is to turn the drive up a tad and lower the input trim to get the perfect balance of the bright cap’s bite and the desired amount of gain.

That’s a really smart idea on the input gain versus drive control thing for the bright cap balance…. Hadn’t thought of that yet…

In fact, @la szum, if I think about it for a second my first instinct in front of a Marshall would be the Bluesbreaker pedal, with the gain and tone knobs at five or above. I feel like that would get you there right away. Just a thought. I feel like that would sound badass if you compensate the tone stack and gain settings on the amp.

Jcm800
If it isn’t broke
Don’t fix it 😂
