Fractal Talk

If you are a patient person; it's fine. I am sure. But FAS anything is dead last for doing that kind of external control programming for me. I do not have the patience for that at all.

Patience is indeed required, unless you’re one of those freaky oddballs that enjoys that shit.

I appreciate the offer. I'm not sure how 8 scenes + 4 channels would work on a foot controller with half as many footswitches, but it'd likely irritate me over time.

Four buttons to toggle between scenes 1&2, 3&4, 5&6, 7&8. Hold function to switch layouts to presets or controls functions. It’s actually pretty crazy what you can do with the FC 6 and 12.

The only real tedious thing I might possibly care about is a sort of "pedalboard" mode where I could change something on or off on a scene. Sort of like the manual mode on the Boss MS-3. I'm not sure how useful or necessary that would be with 8 scenes though.

The way I have both my FC12 and FM9 set up is I leave it primarily on an effects layout, which is basically my “pedalboard”. Long pressing the front row of six switches calls up the first six scenes.

Is there a share of pedalboard layouts somewhere that I'm missing, for the various combinations possible on Fractaly stuff? That'd be cool.

I had to watch a shitload of videos to wrap my head around things, and I’m just finally getting up to speed with it. I wish there was a single, comprehensive resource but I haven’t found one yet.

For $750 I decided to stick with a mouse and keyboard. :ROFLMAO: F that ridiculousness.

MC8 does call to me every now and then though.

I couldn't care less about scribble strips.
It’s far more than a scribble strip difference.

The GCP’s ability to control the unit is severely limited compared to the FC or other more modern controller.

A Morningstar unit for the budget conscious would be a better call.

Or an FC6.

Spending top dollar on an AFIII and then picking a MIDI controller that hasn’t changed since 1995 to control it seems silly to me.

But no matter. I won’t say, “I told you so” when youre back in a few weeks talking about your new FC12. :rofl

Anyone using input 2 on the FM9T for piezo? Thinking of picking up a piezo equipped electric, and wondering how I’d run it. Also wondering if I can use a second cab block to run an acoustic IR from someone like Sigma Audio.

Should be a piece of cake to run two chains, and either switch between them with scenes or else morph with an expression pedal.

Yeah, it works great. I did that with my cover band for years with my OG Axe Std.

IR's never worked for me. Always sounded hollow or phasey. But some people seem to get good results.
It could be my cave man approach. I had graphtech ghost saddles wired directly to the stereo output jack with no preamp. A three way mini toggle chooses between magnetic/both/piezo options.
I have made a couple of presets on my FM9T, and it works fine. Buy it's a trick that works great for a live situation, but isn't really satisfying for mucking about at home.

I use it for piezo, but on an acoustic. Not on my electric. I use a Sigma Audio IR in the CAB block with it.
