Fractal Talk

I finally manage to find a solution.

I thought that just having the cs per scene to off would bring back the scene in its original value but it’s not.
So I set it to last and now I just need one tap to disengage to cs midi.

But I would have been great that if cs per scene worked with a real Off when combined with cs midi.

Another thing I learned :

I set the cs midi to engage drive/comp/delay.

But I already had some comp on some scene.
So to have the comp to not disengage when des activating cs midi is set the bypass to a scene controller.

It’s kind of tricky but it worked.

Axe-Fx III Firmware Release Notes

25.00

New “Cygnus X-3” amp modeling:
Improved preamp algorithms.
Improved power amp algorithms.
Improved output transformer loss modeling.
Improved preamp supply voltage modeling.
Nearly all amp models have been “remastered” as a result of new measurement techniques and analytical methods.
Updated Power Tube Grid Bias (or Cathode Resistance, as applicable) default value for most amp models. Existing presets are NOT altered. A soft or hard reset will load the updated value.

Updated Supply Sag default values for many amp models. Existing presets are NOT altered. A soft or hard reset will load the updated value.

Updated Cathode Follower default values for many amp models. Existing presets are NOT altered. A soft or hard reset will load the updated value.

Fixed wrong Miller capacitance value in Deluxe Verb Vibrato, Double Verb Vibrato, Super Verb Vibrato and all Vibrato Verb models.

Fixed wrong FX loop recovery gain in Suhr Badger models.

Added “Sunrise Splendor” Drive model. Existing model renamed “Sunrise Splendor Hi-Cut” to denote that the Hi-Cut switch is engaged.

Dear lord , although I knew when he was measuring the J800 again something was up
Cool to see that the preamp modelling and power amp modelling got an overhaul
Oddly enough I can’t say I was disappointed w Cygnus 2 though

Also love the Digital igloo style warning ‼️

Well they have been warned

Man Cliff is Relentless :crazy
and really how much better can the Toanz get ?
For myself these are the kinds of updates I love tone enhancements !
For the Presets tone change, I only use one preset at a time so not too worried there

Coming to FM9

I admire the hell out of Cliff for the constant pursuit, but I'm not anticipating a detectable sonic difference for a rube like me. I've long been at the "how much better can it possibly get?" point, personally.

I'd unironically love to see the measurements though.
I’m in the same boat. As much as I love to see improvements, I’m not sure I hear them. I can’t help but wonder when the juice will no longer be worth the squeeze. Not yet I guess, according to the FAS team.

If Cliff and company go through all this trouble, hard work, research, testing, comparing its not for naught
almost every time there has been tonal updates since ive had my FM9 ive noticed it, is it night and day ? no, but its enough for me to say hell ya thats what im talking about, a lot of these tonal updates are about feel and and how they react to your playing
But thats me

YMMV

I'm sure the juice is worth it to someone who is chasing perfection down to the nittiest and grittiest of measurable elements. At some point, I suppose the updates are more for Cliff and the desire to perfect the art than they are for the user base, if that makes sense.

Sure, I don't mean to imply this is a fraudulent update. I'm sure there is a difference between old and new; I'm just not anticipating that it will be apparent to me and in the context of my Neanderthal chugs. Who knows. I could be wrong. I'm currently backing up my Axe Fx to give the beta a spin.

Fractal modeling has gotten to where it is now moreso by incremental steps year after year than by a couple of quantum leaps. Sure, some steps were bigger than others, but they all mattered and moved it forward. There were people saying he could pretty much stop where he was at back in the standard and ultra days. I have one of those units, and it’s still great, but the modern iterations are significantly better.

I’m glad he doesn’t listen to the people that say the differences are small and they can hardly hear them. Sure, that’s probably true for a lot of players across one firmware increment. But compare the recent stuff to something from 4-5 years ago and I bet you’ll have no trouble telling the difference. Fast forward to 5 years from now, I bet that will be true again, and yet again it will be from a lot of smaller steps along the way.

We will have to see earlier report is that it might be a little darker, but it only in Beta
To me most firmware updates tend to go back and forth between brighter more in your face and darker smoother , I tend to prefer the brighter tones but I know many can complain about hi end
At any rate it will likely be a while before it comes to FM9 and I am sure several betas

Having been on the Fractal train from the Axe-Fx Standard days, it's always been a "yes, that does sound better, somehow" with every major named modeling version. Like I can't quite put into words what is better about it, it just sounds better.

I'm sure forums will fill with the usual hyperbole about day and night cycles, as well as the nay-sayers posting stuff like "Well you guys said it was accurate before, but turns out it was not!" But this is just science in play. There's a lot of stuff that has been said "this is the way it is" and then years later someone figures out "no, actually it's like this" and the world moves forward.

These bigger updates tend to make it far easier for me to get where I was going. Cygnus brought the removal of multiband comps and PEQ’s, I’ve been pretty stoked since then and haven’t really had any complaints at all. Since the initial Cygnus the updates generally just cause me to adjust the bass or treble, I think C2 had me change a few IR’s and obviously DynaCabs changed things quite a bit.

Suppose I’m gonna stop talking about it and go hear it. I’ll fire off a couple DI’s for some before/after stuff.
