Yes, as I said above, a midi loopback cable goes from the midi out port to the midi in port. This allows you to use the CS Midi window to have a control switch send any CC# you choose, to any block you choose(as long as that block is listed in the midi\remote set up screen), no matter what scene or preset you might be on.
What I meant by "per-preset" is that you can't have different "groups" of blocks controlled by that CS on a per preset basis. Or it can be done somehow? I've never investigated this stuff

True... Although there are only 6 Control Switches, so that's a bit limiting.
The CS Midi window allows you to assign up to 4 commands per switch, so that's 24 commands, plus you can still assign them to things that do accept modifiers.......not very limiting.

Not to mention, for each of the 24 commands, you can have the CC# you enter control however many blocks you want.

I never had the need for "per preset" stuff, so I don't know about that.

You would still have to use the loop back cable like he describes as far as I can tell. You can’t attach a modifier/controller to channel selection, but you can send multiple midi messages that change channels from a control switch.

Yep, that was pretty clear already (y)

Still, better than nothing :)

It's funny, what you wrote made me think that, with the gapless switching we have now, you could maybe just use more presets to send more MIDI messages via control switches, if you can send different MIDI commands from each preset. I'll have to remember to look into that when I can play next. Of course that still only works when you can find a musically appropriate time to switch presets.

Trying to determine if I should get the FM9, or an Axe FX III with maybe a ground control pro or something like that.
The only alternative I'd consider to an FC-12 for an Axe-Fx III is an RJM GT/16 or GT/22 -- and those are considerably more money than an FC-12. A Ground Control Pro has not kept up with state-of-the-art when it comes to foot controllers.

I couldn't care less about scribble strips.

Just thinking about programming my old GCP makes me twitchy. Rock solid unit, but the UI was horrible…. :sofa

Absolutely! I have a III and a FC-12 and the two were made for each other. Anything else will lose functionality and be more of PITA to configure.

It's a joy to behold!

I just wish I didn't have to pay the lazy tax. I really have zero need for scribble strips.

If you are a patient person; it's fine. I am sure. But FAS anything is dead last for doing that kind of external control programming for me. I do not have the patience for that at all.
