Fractal Talk

How many people here would like to save their block presets to the hardware itself, so you could assemble a preset without requiring Axe Edit to browse your "favourite" settings?
A couple days ago I thought about making a wish which would cover this as well, but didn't have time to post it.
The wish is about "Global channels", basically the same thing as global blocks but only applied to a single channel, that has a few advantages over global blocks:

- you can have a block in a preset where only one channel is linked to its global settings and other channels have preset-specific settings
- you can (hopefully) mix and match different global channels in a single block
- we'd basically have a channel library on board (especially if there will be the possibility to assign them a custom name)
- probably uses less memory per slot since each one needs to store just 1 channel instead of 4

EDIT: wish made

I mean, it's a well-stated wish. You wrote it up succinctly. People were being opining idiots.

I've long wondered if we should make wish threads write-once. You can create them, maybe emoji react to them, but can't post on them.

In a few cases, people post on wish threads with notes about things being already possible. Or alternatives to how to get to the same goal.

But mostly they just turn in to sniping back and forth. Useless.
Yeah there were some proper dickheads getting involved in that thread.

"I donnnnn't neeeeed it! Therefore stupid wish!!!"

I was excited about that feature when they added it to helix and I did put some things in it but I rarely actually use them. It’s still a great feature and I see how useful it is, but I just couldn’t get in the habit of using it and end up copying and pasting blocks or just starting from scratch. Makes no sense really, but that’s what I did… I wonder how many people use them on Helix.
The main issue the Helix has is that they're not sorted into categories. So like... you make 6 favourites for your ping pong delay, and one for your Adriatic delay and you have no idea which uses which underlying model later on down the road.

I’d say I want them on the FM9, but based on my past I don’t think I’d actually use them…. I’m curious to see if I use the ones in axe edit either. Until I get that purchase invitation, I’ll never know…
I've been building a bunch of "starter blocks" to help myself get up and running with patches quicker. I think I would use it a lot on the hardware. Ideally I'd be able to avoid taking a laptop to practice!

Yeah on Helix I only use it for a few things, mainly to save sounds that I’ve copied from real pedals of mine so that I have them without digging through old presets. If they were categorized, it would probably be hard to use them as they were intended to be used but easier for the kind of thing I actually used them for.

A laptop at practice? That’s a hard no for me, I better find a way to do what I want with it without that. I think I’ll be fine, I don’t tend to mess with stuff much at a rehearsal.

Yeah, except that the redundancy is most likely much smaller and cheaper than it was in the past, as in the case of Bruce's example. For me, it'd be my FM9T with a Stomp as backup.
Used to be a Pod2.0 with my amps at one time.
But would we worry about smaller if cartage wouldn’t have gone crazy.
Or gas prices for that matter.

Now my redundancy is an iPad

I'll be using an Atomic Ampli-Firebox Mk II as backup for my FM9 with a BAM200 as backup amplification.

Yeah? Well I’ll be using an iPhone as a back to my iPad as a backup to my Stomp as a backup to my FM9!

Waiting for NeuralLink to get Amplitube 5, so I can rebuy everything all over again even though I’ve already got it on my laptop, desktop, iPad, and iPhone already.

Is he still in business? I think he was a one man show and dont see many people talking about his stuff much anymore. Great gear, though.

He recently had a big sale on the Ampli-Firebox Mk IIs so I picked one up. I like that it's a relatively simple solution with good tone that would allow me to finish my Jazz gig while concentrating on my playing instead of fixating on gear for the rest of the gig.

I remember him showing at NAMM a few years ago, I think there was some kind of Michael Sweet collab on a floor based guitar pre with FX IIRC. Sounded pretty good, too.

That wasn’t atomic, I don’t think. It was probably this:

Oh damn you’re right. My bad. Carry on. THAT thing was really cool. But IIRC the Atomic guys name is Gallo and he is a one man operation. Lives somewhat close to me in NJ. I remember talking to him on social media, back when I participated in social media.

Also, if memory serves, the ISP guys came from Rocktron. I had an original Chameleon and thought it had the same kind of thing going on. Back in the old days, digital was just digital and wasn’t modeling anything. That was the chameleon. Sounded pretty good. Used it quite a while.
