Fractal Talk

So for a while I've been wanting to just do a bunch of "starter" presets for a bunch of blocks. Today, I got started on the reverb one:

I just want all of the modes, with their stock settings, but with specific time and mix values. Just to get me going. I also want to do a bright and dark version of each, so that when I'm putting patches together I can just quickly slap one of these block presets in and hit the ground running.

My aim is to do it with all the delays and reverbs, possibly some drives too.

And put it on a share drive for the forum bruvs? :bag

Or put a webstore together? ;)

For the folks using a load box and having the Axe-Fx load IR/dyna cabs...how are you setting up presets? I know I can just do input>cab block>effects>output but I've read about speaker impedance curves when using a load box. With this being in the amp block, what amp model is being used and what parameters should be turned off (speaker settings and whatnot, I'm guessing turning off poweramp modeling as well)? I'm using a Suhr RL/IR and Fryette PS-100 but was curious how people are setting things up for their usage. Thanks!

@Totemic the load boxes themselves have impedance curves designed to mimic a speaker impedance curve - the Suhr in particular is pretty good in that regard. So running amp-load-cab block will be totally fine, no need for another amp block.

I think I am just as excited for the FM9 edit update with the fancy new design

I mean, it's a well-stated wish. You wrote it up succinctly. People were being opining idiots.

I've long wondered if we should make wish threads write-once. You can create them, maybe emoji react to them, but can't post on them.

In a few cases, people post on wish threads with notes about things being already possible. Or alternatives to how to get to the same goal.

But mostly they just turn in to sniping back and forth. Useless.

Ahhh, I didn’t see the dillholes and assumed there was some previous issue surrounding the wish/global blocks.

Exactly!

"Why would you want to do things like that? That doesn't make any sense."
"Just go out and buy _______."

How many people here would like to save their block presets to the hardware itself, so you could assemble a preset without requiring Axe Edit to browse your "favourite" settings?

I was excited about that feature when they added it to helix and I did put some things in it but I rarely actually use them. It’s still a great feature and I see how useful it is, but I just couldn’t get in the habit of using it and end up copying and pasting blocks or just starting from scratch. Makes no sense really, but that’s what I did… I wonder how many people use them on Helix.

I’d say I want them on the FM9, but based on my past I don’t think I’d actually use them…. I’m curious to see if I use the ones in axe edit either. Until I get that purchase invitation, I’ll never know…

The truth is the AxefxIII and to be fair similar units have made huge racks of gear obsolete. There is just no need to have 100 points of failure anymore. The FX in the FAS stuff are quite good in a guitar rig.
That goes both ways too…if the do-it-all box croaks you’re hosed, whereas if you have say 3 delays and one bites it then you likely not even gonna flinch.
