Fractal Talk

Cumulonimbus should be its own pedal.

But really... I seriously think Fractal could clean house if they took 1-3 reverb algorithms and whack them in an ARM-based pedal with two footswitches and a few knobs to control the algorithm.

Why I love my FM9 sooooo Much, consider these 4 essential pedals (for what I'm currently working on)
I did a quick check Cost with taxes Up here in Quebec for the Individual pedals, and it works out to $1,265.43 Taxes Included and thats no amp or any cab to speak of lol
and its almost half the price of what my FM9 Cost me
like wow !!

Yes, I did that once when I had the FM9. Thought I wasn't using it for that much, when using it in 4cm for effects only, but added it up and would've cost over $5k as separate pedals.

I've often thought that in addition to the CPU meter, Fractals should have a $ meter reflecting the real-world cost of the preset. :-)

Maybe that would be a fun little addition to something like FracTool....

I just make certain I run a preset with an ODS-100 model from time to time. Very much getting my money's worth when I do that.

FXpansion would've totally done that!! haha!!

We once put a version of Pong in the about box for a plugin. But you had to wait 20 minutes or so for it to show up, iirc!

how anyone can put the tmp up against the fm9 and walk away thinking the tmp is better is braindead. sorry but a slick screen doesnt make a modeler

I just want to say I think Fractal is constantly getting better with their accuracy in amp modeling. I'm a Mesa fanboy for sure, and if you compare the new Mark V amp models to the older Mark models (IIC+, USA Clean, Lead 2, etc.,) you really hear a difference in quality. The new amp models have more punch and realness to them, whether you're using similar settings or trying to get it to sound like you want it to. I was using the IIC+ and JP2C models in my FM9, but now it's the V Extreme and V IV mode that I'm using the most - they just sound huge.

I've been lucky enough to see every generation of Axe FX so far, and while even the first Axe FX standard was all you'd ever need, the modeling in the new amp models is absolutely top notch.

The reason I started looking into the FM9 a year or two ago was simply that I missed the fractal reverbs. I didn’t make the switch because of some other issues that didn’t work out for me (now resolved with gapless switching).

Back then, I would have purchased a fractal reverb pedal in an instant.

Now that they have the gapless switching, I just want to move to the FM9 and get ITB.

D

Depends on what you mean by “better.”

For some, the screen might be the most important feature when shopping for a modeler. I wouldn’t necessarily consider them brain-dead.
WELL....ok not braindead i guess but mentally challenged maybe is better.
