If you have enlarged scribble strips. Get checked.
If you have enlarged scribble strips. Get checked.
Do the product details matter when he’ll never buy it anyway?
That would be coolThe game changer for me would be if the new FM9 had relays like the FX8 that could change channels on channel switching heads that don't have MIDI.
I'd find that really useful and would definitely buy one.
Oooh I don’t know……you better hold off……View attachment 17935
The problem is its not a new product technically , its an FM9 in a new chassisIt would take a lot of chutzpah to call it a MkII if the only thing that changed was the size of the scribble strips! Then again, as Cliff has said elsewhere, he does what he wants ;~)) And he has every right to do so, the company would not be what it is (or even exist) without his genius!!
EDIT: Now that I think about it, the MkII FC12 had nothing other than large scribble strips compared to the OG (AFIK), so maybe this update is worthy of a new name
Not sure what you think I was trying to say there, but I was simply trying to convey that putting larger scribble strips on the FM9 did not justify a new name in my opinion, if that ends up being the only thing that gets updated on the MkII. I then noted that they MkII FC12 was only different in the scribble strips and it got a new name (FC12 MkII), so maybe that is what they are doing. AFIK, that does not make it a new chasis. In either case (FM9 or FC12), I don't think larger scribble strips justifies a new name, but it is Cliff's show, and like the Honey Badger, he do what he want!!! As for the development cycle and what may or may not be coming out, I don't really care and was not commenting on anything other than the naming. Hope that is clear now!The problem is its not a new product technically , its an FM9 in a new chassis
the FM series was designed a long time ago and they are still in the middle of the product life cycle , that why people saying FM6 FM7 its not likely to happen the FM3 uses the FC6 chassis and FM9 uses the fc12
The only different product that I could see being possible in this generation would be an FM0 where they could remove the foot switches and use the CPU of the FM3 turbo , then you could add an FC6 or 12 , that would allow the compatibility w the current foot switches . so it technically not a new product but it could possibly be helpful to hit entry level at a slight lower price point
A new name is actually good because then you don't need to wonder if you are getting a 1st or 2nd gen. Just look at Apple's iPad lineup where you have to carefully figure out what year model or generation the device being sold is because they look visually pretty much the same. Not sure what you think I was trying to say there, but I was simply trying to convey that putting larger scribble strips on the FM9 did not justify a new name in my opinion, if that ends up being the only thing that gets updated on the MkII. Is that what people have been conceptualizing as the FM0? That just sounds like an FM3 without the foot switches? I can’t imagine dropping the foot switches would significantly reduce the cost. The only different product that I could see being possible in this generation would be an FM0 where they could remove the foot switches and use the CPU of the FM3 turbo
I don't think anyone necessarily wants it to be cheaper, just more compact. The FM3 is not a particularly pedalboard friendly size.Is that what people have been conceptualizing as the FM0? As you know, there are plenty of products that get minor updates (which is what I would consider this scribble strip change) and simply change the model number that appears near the serial number, but do not change the product name. Take the new PRS CU24-08. Very different with new pickups, yet no name change. But if you look at your product, you can tell it is different. Yes, changing the model name for consumers will make it slightly easier for them to identify which product they have, but I believe it is overkill, and I believe it is a waste of a significant name update.A new name is actually good because then you don't need to wonder if you are getting a 1st or 2nd gen. hmmm...
The scribble strips require larger holes, therefore it has to be a new chassis...AFIK, that does not make it a new chasis
I mean you can just have whatever cuts the holes at the factory, to just cut larger holes. It doesn't mean it's a whole new design...The scribble strips require larger holes, therefore it has to be a new chassis...
