Fractal Talk

Hmmm that would be strange but it seems it's happening! I hope the scribble strips can just be a firmware update.

Wonder what other pros of the MKII there will be? The FM9 has been a weird launch cycle imo where availability has been sparse but there seems to now be 3 iterations. I can see why some may be annoyed.

I know it's not going to be a popular opinion here but the FM9 has been out 2 years and 5 months give or take and will have had 3 versions. That's a version a year (and yes I know the turbo was done out of chip necessity) but no other company does this so I can see why it can be frustrating because you know people will say "I just bought the FM9T and now this is out!" As if the FM9T is now a brick.
In Fractal Land “quite farther out” is ~6 months.

When they ran out of stock worldwide and they went pretty silent, I was almost sure this was going to happen so I put myself on the waiting list (pretty sure all FM9 waitlist folks will be automatically shifted to the MkII).

Anyone wanna buy a Mk I?? 😂

Tagging is a better solution than color coding imo because easily discernible primary colors are limited.
For example I can tag [Fender], [Marshall], [Mesa] then search, organize, hide, etc. by tags.
Multiple tags per amp will allow even faster search if you want further organize things by gain, favorite, whatever, a Tag Manager and Search will be needed, things can get a little complicated.
On a second thought, we don't have thousands of models like captures so just one tag will be enough to display a shorter list without scrolling.

This is a purely Axe/FM Edit function, because entering letters on the hardware will take far longer than just scrolling through the entire model list.

I'm sure some people will feel that way but to me it's just silly.

I bought an original FM9 because I thought it was a great piece of gear and still do. The availability of other products doesn't change that.

The original FM9 has more capability than I'll ever use. It sounds great and lets me express myself more than any other effects device/modeler I've ever owned.

To me, that's all that matters.

Yup. No regrets here. Got the OG, and I see the strips just fine and have never maxed out a preset.

Just added myself to the FM9 wait list. However, I wonder if the new version will bring another price increase for G66 customers?!

As long as you don't play live much (in that case the larger displays and additional CPU juice might be a nice thing), I don't think there's too many reasons in getting this over the old version. It's quite likely they would be supported as long, too.

I don't think it will have any more CPU than the FM9 Turbo. Just the bigger displays. Obviously the larger displays are better, but the original ones are totally fine too so I wouldn't spend money to swap from FM9 Mk1 -> Mk2.
