Fender Tone Master Pro: Episode IV - A New Hope

I don’t disagree with a lot of the sentiments here but the updates are on par or exceed what helix kemper and qc are doing. Cliff is Usain Bolt at a high school track and field day in comparison.

It was always going to be a long ride with the TMP. The reason I actually got one is cause I knew I’d probably want to get it in 2-3 years and instead of wondering I just grabbed it to use along the way. I probably could have saved a couple hundred waiting for a sale or second hand but also ate that for the sake of just having it.

Everyone’s mileage is different and I wish more amps came sooner but at the end of the day their dev is on track, they add a lot of pedals and fx and all the other fixes, it’s just par for the course in my eyes. It’s kind of the kemper konundrum. If you’re happy with the tmp then you’re getting a better tmp every 6 months. If you fundamentally don’t like it or think it’s lacking, I doubt they’ll win you overnight. At the very least they might hit a point just like helix did where you look at it a fair while later and go…. Damn, that thing actually has a ton in there I need to check it out.

Getting my hands on a evh hypersonic when they drop and I can’t wait to pair the tmp with it, feels like it’s going to be a great small setup
There's something for everyone, and there's plenty of players who prefer every major modeler (and profiler).

I still think Fender would be wise to focus on Fender and focus on amps. Their interface just kills for "plug in, dial in, play." But they haven't even finished the Vibro-King, so they clearly don't give a rat's ass what I think. And why would they?

The good news is players can all get something they like.

Exactly! I have a TMP, Kemper and FM3. Infact my preference for those units is Kemper > TMP > FM3. I know that goes against the grain but Fractal is indeed my least favorite (and it has nothing to do with UI). With the options we have today, there is something (or a combination of a few somethings, lol) for everyone!

I would be just the opposite in order of preference. But if I had to choose between the TMP and Kemper, I'd pick the Kemper because of how far behind other modelers Fender is in terms of amps and so on, and how slowly they're catching up. For me at least, it's not yet ready for use beyond practice. For others (including some celebs), it is. Cool for them.

Just to be clear...you're a big fan of Fender amps, but having access to the Vibroking, Deluxe, Bassman, Deluxe Reverb, Super Reverb, Twin Reverb, and Princeton amps and their speakers has no value to you beyond practice?

No, that's not what I'm saying. Being limited to just those Fender sounds (and limited well beyond as well) means that sounds I use regularly as part of my music making are not available. Starting anything but practice with it has led to frustration. So I leave it in the practice area of my house.

And again, I really don't get why you feel the need to clap back at everything I say about my dissatisfaction with it. If you really like it, you can say "Bummer. I really like it, and it totally works for me," and I will give it a thumbs up.

What sounds that you use regularly are unavailable?

Why? If you want me to answer you, you're going to need to address what IN have frequently brought up - that you're repeatedly pushing back at me stating my own preference, and for no stated reason.

Not a push back, man. I'm far from a Fender expert, so I'm genuinely curious about what clean/edge-of-breakup Fender tones you aren't able to get with the current batch. I could very join in loudly advocating for one or more of those sounds.

This is strictly seeking to understand.

Then drop it, because it feels like bad faith that you keep finding another way to push back on every statement. Take it or leave it. Or bring it to DMs if you really want to know. Because over the years, I've learned that if you start listing specifics (and I could list many in this case) on forums, some a-hole will come along and argue with those item by item, and I just don't have time for that.

I'll say this: Line 6 just showed how to work within launch limitations because they said Stadium is launching with just 16 amps and 6 bass amps and nobody cares. Just because they nailed every other aspect beyond belief and sketched out a detailed future that you know they'll deliver on.
True. And I'll bet they add to the roster at a much quicker rate. I guess we'll see.
