Boss GX 10 ..... Floor EFX Unit Anyone ?

Fwiw, this is really bad. Once you're using a tablet, it could be much more like the desktop editor.
Talking about the GT editor here, but from all I know, the GX editor is pretty much identical in that regard.
Agreed. Just tried the desktop editor, and that's exactly the layout I want to see on tablets.

And fwiw, no idea whether there's a difference between the GT and GX BTS versions (I most defenitely wouldn't think so as they certainly use the same framework), but editing any parameters is horribly in-exact. You can easily overshoot things and once you're actually touching a parameter you can't see any readout anymore. Really, while an incredibly great idea on paper, those mobile editors could do with quite some more love. Or at least any love at all...

Btw, after some intense hours with the thing (yeah, the GT, but in this case it absolutely shouldn't matter), I gotta say I quite like some of Boss' amp models. They just should've done themselves a favour by throwing all the old ones out. I'm actually wondering about those quite a bit. I even think the Marshall models of the GT-10 sound better than the Brit Stack somewhere down the amp list.
But their X-Amps, the Transparent, Natural and Boutique stuff all sound absolutely nice and - most of all - absolutely useable to me. Personally, I also like it a lot that they're all laid out the same.
I also think I will end up using the internal cabs, they're way less flexible than my IR collection or the HX series cabs, but so far I think that's a plus. No more rabbit holes.

I know this post is about the GX-10 but I have to share this. Recently got the GX-100 (my Sweetwater guy sent it to me to "check out" over the weekend). Back story, been a Mesa, EVH, Stealth, and Fractal guy for many years. Never really vibed well with the L6 stuff, the ToneX is cool but I rarely use it, and early on the Kemper was amazing when I used it. Needless to say I really like the tones I am getting from this GX-100. Is it as flexible, does it have have more options in routing and just about everything, or does it sound as "real" as my AF3 or FM9...well, no, but that's comparing apples to oranges. But is the GX-10/GX-100 able to deliver everything from superb cleans to classic rock, to AC30, to tweed, to searing metal tones with a little tweaking, able to go to FOH and on stage live cab, and be flexible enough to easily do a show...a resounding yes!! I thought I'd give this some love and if anyone is on the fence for a quick grab n go unit or something to use in 4CM for some pretty good effects, just get it! Needless to say I sent my SW guy a text and told him I was keeping the GX-100. If for anything it's a great backup and fun to play. Cons....the editor and BTS is total garbage. slow, buggy, can't easily rearrange presets, no copy/paste. It's kinda a pain in the ass and sluggish to be honest.

Nice song and great review!

Do you know if while the looper is playing / overdubbing, if we can switch patches and have it play/overdub while we do it with the changed patch? (I am guessing we'd need to have a looper block in any patch we land on while the looper is engaged for such an arrangement to work (like in the HX Stomp/Helix world), but I wanted to see if you can check that?)

I haven’t tried the looper yet. I believe it’s possible as long as the signal chain is the same that you use the looper throughout preset changes. I’ll verify that soon. I’m thinking it might be difficult with just the 3 footswitches. Adding external footswitches may be necessary.

On the GT, the looper will just continue to work in any patch, simply because it's always there - hence, it's memory is always stored, too. Just the location may vary, so for a real looper performance it's possibly a decent idea to keep it at the end of the signal chain.
I see no reasons why this would be different on the GX.

Answering my own question using this video:

Yes, as long as the looper is present in the landing patch, we can use the looper and switch to said patch while looping.
