What is your favorite booster ?

unironically this. dial amp to be way too much gain and way too bright, then use guitar volume and tone to bring it down to "normal" tone. then gain boost and treble boost is always there waiting for free

Did so for a while but found it very uncomfortable for anything requiring quick sound switches, as it's tough to return to "normal" gain. I prefer "normal" to be all the way up.

You can get adapter cables pretty much everywhere, some power supplies come with them. Look for 3.5mm TS plugs as the target size and either a direct 5mm (outer size) / 2.1mm (inner size) barrel plug or one with a cable socket. Something like this (sorry for the german link):
I have really only used batteries. I have the extra RAT because some guy stole the first one i had, from a rehearsal studio. I bought a used one from a local music store. I soon found out a guy at the studio complex took mine. I found it in their room, my name painted on it. I took it back

This thread inspired me to try out a Klon KTR into an AmpTweaker TightFuzzPro (Boost side) into a TightDrivePro (Boost side) into a BigRockPro (Boost side) into a Black Arts Toneworks Coven (Colorsound side).

Why have I not done this until now? OD, Distortion and Fuzz are there as well. Of course, some of them sound better together than others…

I paid the $$$ for all these Gain options, I just need to learn to use them.

I have a prototype BadgerPlex AC that I love using as an "always on" type of pedal.

Robert lifted the exact pre-amp circuit out of the Echoplex3 for this pedal.

I am currently maining a MoVall Jumpspace, a $20 Tube Zone clone.

It is a Tube Screamer that gives you a fine degree of control over several things you don't get on a normal TS.

I don't know if the Jumpspace is an accurate clone, but it has the same knob layout. Most useful thing is the mid control where you can reduce the normal mid-boost of a TS some fractional amount so it doesn't sound ultra pushed if you don't want.

It also has a presence knob so you can play with the balance between tone and presence controls to tailor the top end.

I agree. Specially if you are not only a guitarist but also have to sing while playing. Some people use a volume pedal, but it also requires quite a bit of practice to move it specifically and quickly to manipulate the gain.

Micro Amp. Got a few others, always come back to the MXR. Just got the black DOD Bi-Fet and it’s kinda cool. Haven’t had as much time,,,,,,,

I like the CKK Scream Honey. It's a pedal I bought one drunken night when Pete Thorn's demo popped up on the tube...

The website description is pretty vague, but it's basically a TS style od that doesn't cut the lows much and less of a midrange hump.

Totally amp/ guitar dependent, but I still enjoy scrolling and seeing cool pedals.

AC30 + Rat is often a low gain winner for me - stock ones can be hard to set right, clones with smoother pot tapers it's easy. So it's still clean if you play soft, but gets some hair if you hit hard. There's a midrange thing that's awesome, it tightens the low end, and the filter knob lets you decide how much it cuts.

Not sure if it's been said so far, but Timmy! It's one of the mightiest tone shapers that can go from clean boost to overdrive to distortion without breaking a sweat. The decision to have the low cut pre-gain stage is the secret sauce IMO.

From the list I posted earlier, the one that sees most use is definitely the Sound City Rangemaster, always first in chain, and always on.

The range/volume controls come in really handy when I change between guitars with different pickups, e.g. from superloud/bassy to tamer but beefy/trebly, etc.

It makes the whole rig sing and kinda "freshens up" anything that it's run into.

I haven't minded the Chase Tone Secret Pre as a boost.
I dont use it as an all the time on pedal.
IMO if I needed an all the time pedal, in reality, I probably really need a better sounding amp.

Its sounds like my amp, but more.
Plus has the tone color switch, bright-medium-dark.

I’m generally a volume knob guy nowadays but when I used a boost I have one that’s a Zvex Super Hard On clone. I made two versions, one without an off switch because I always had it on.
