What Did You Do With Your Guitar(s) Today?

Dose it have speakers?
No, purely aesthetic. Although it is mostly hollow inside. They were going for that old radio look. It always played really well and the stock pickups were fairly decent. But I'm also refretting the neck, the old frets are just too wide and flat for my tastes these days.

I haven't been playing an awful lot this week, so think I'm going to start on a guitar project I've been meaning to get to.

I have one of those old Lindert guitars with the thumb's up headstock lol (makes a Tyler look like a dream in comparison). Going to tweak the headstock shape and repaint it and the whole body in gold sparkle. :love
Change the pickguard to a black color or something else but still dark. Not sure about which pickups yet, but I do want to have a piezo under the bridge and be able to blend into the output, or have on by itself. Should be a fun project.

I've done mods on mine over the years and it is in pieces at the moment. :grin

Here's what the guitar looks like in its original form -- this one is not mine though.

Goldfoil Body?! Wow. That is really unique, and cool as shit!

Put v30s in it and it will be most slaying clockradio on the market :sofa
I do have a 3 inch full range speaker, that might be cool mounted in the body? probably too deep but would be awesome to run through my Helix and then pipe it back into my guitar's speaker. :rofl
That thing would feedback like a pig. :grin

Finally got around to sanding my LEF custom Thursday and Friday. Was gonna fill/seal it today so I can get to painting it, but decided to go buy a Spark instead.

Today I wrote a pile of riffs that will likely end up in the next TGF Challenge and one bit that’s gonna be a new Red Vinter song. I love when I get a new piece of gear and the inspiration flows…

And, everytime I think about selling my silver Solar, I play it for a bit and decide Im crazy for thinking about selling it.

My Solar is starting to get that broken-in feeling on the neck and man, that’s definitely a neck shape that is already really comfortable, but getting that natural fingerboard edge roll and the fingerboard ‘smoothed out’ after a couple years of playing, holy shit is that an inviting experience.

I hadn’t even really considered that too much after that flurry of buying new guitars in the last couple years, my JEM and SZ would be ignored for months at a time and when I’d pick them up I’d get that “Ohhhhh shit, that’s right, this has been PLAYED”, even with the light relic’ing stuff on the Strats, ya need legit playing time to get that feeling.

When I was at GC this morning getting the Spark, I tried three Jacksons and a Schecter - all in the same price range as Solar’s A2 line - and none of them were remotely close to as nice. The “broken in” feeling is just a cherry on top. 🍒

I took Rig Mountain apart because as cool as it was to have a wall of rig in my living room/kitchen, I got tired of navigating around it.

Only takes a few seconds to switch cables around so I can run either amp w/ or w/out the FM9 in 4CM or just run pedals in front. Both heads sound killer through the EVH cab. I was tempted to toss one of my 2x12’s over by the acoustic with the Duncan or TC amp powering it for a stereo rig but keeping these amps at living room volumes is hard enough with one 2x12. :rofl

A little over a decade ago my living room rig was this-

This doesn’t suck!

Have you got the EVH cab up to decent volumes yet?
