What Did You Do With Your Guitar(s) Today?

I put it down and walked away. Didn't matter which guitar I used and whether I played loud or quiet it all just sucked. I know it's all in my head and if I play another day with the same gear and settings it will probably sound great. Makes more sense to walk away when I'm in that kind of mood.

I changed strings on one of my Strats yesterday. Does that count?

I was getting ready to turn in for the night last night when I decided to plug in and play for a bit, realized in the process it’s a perfect way to end a weekend before waking up to a Monday. Just an hour or so of chill noodling, not trying to get anything done or ideas out, kind of a decompress of the brain. Really want to make this a regular thing, it was closer to a meditation than anything.

I've been living in keyboards, synths, and saxophone land for the last few months and barely have touched any of my guitars. But today, I pulled out a trusty steed for a video project I'm starting to work on. The T5z is an amazing instrument.

Did a vid lesson for the 18 year old shred girl. Her alternate picking is pretty solid already. And so is her time when doing that.
But she needs to work on her legato/economy picking and also staying in time when the pick strokes are weird. So also recorded that etude that’s pretty much only picking when there’s a string change.

Just the vid with no tab

Two days ago I did this…

Well after a lot of delays for a number of reasons, my new album "Knock Knock Knock" is now out in the wild. It will be available on most streaming platforms and digital retailers starting in the next 0-7 days. It can be heard immediately at my Bandcamp page . One of the great things about this album, for me, is I LOVE playing every single one of these songs! Give a listen and if you like, feel free to PM me for a free download code if you are interested ;~)) "Knock Knock Knock, time to unlock a little creativity" ;~))

Soldered up a 2nd control plate and wiring for my Custom Shop 51 Nocaster. It came with modern wiring.

So this 2nd setup is wired per original 51 Nocasters. Bridge w/ neck blend, Neck, Neck w/ dark circuit. I’ve been swapping the resistor and cap values. Originals had a 15 or 25K resistor and .05 uF cap. Makes it SUPER dark (too much) with that cap. And too much volume drop (resistor).

Tried a 10K and now at 4.7K resistor. Dropped the cap to .022 uF, then .01 uF. Both still too muffled. .0047 and .0022 uF to try next. The 4.7K seems to give an ok subtle vol drop. Some clip it out completely.

I’ll probably get to where I kinda like it, then put the modern wiring back in lol.

Since doing some fret end work on an acoustic this summer, I figured out a new (to me) rounding technique that I was super juiced about when the guitar came out feeling great!

I decided to redo the fret ends of my Epiphone ES-335 on the high treble side. They were still pretty sharp after I had attempted it the first time but now they're feeling great!

I couldn't get a good picture of the fret ends due to potatophone so this shot will have to do.

And yes that picture behind the guitar is Jello Biafra and Wesley Willis (RIP) taken at my former home. IYKYK
