What Did You Do With Your Guitar(s) Today?

Bought a DD-3 when they were first released. Must have had it on pre-order with one of the local shops cause I remember it being one of the first sold. Bad memory is sitting with it and a cassette Portastudio and experimenting while getting ready to watch the live coverage of the Space Shuttle Challenger launch.

On a lighter note, was just thinking really hard about it and the only Boss pedal I've consistently used throughout the many years has been one of their delays. A chorus sees occasional use but that's really it. No reverbs, compressors, ODs, EQs, etc. Weird.

Not as fucking weird as you though....... :rofl
Never? :facepalm
Yeah, I'm weird. I accept it.:grin
But you know, generally I've never been huge into delay anyways, at least with live playing. I really just prefer reverb. I have a few delays though, a Moog and a TC alter ego, but that's it. And for years I stuck with very few pedals overall, but the last 10 yrs I've accumulated quite a bit.
As far as Boss goes, the OD-3 has seen the most consistent use.

the winner - speaking of Japan......Flat out cleanest and sweetest delay - actually somewhere between the other pedals' analog and digital voices - just really nice. The other cool thing is the taper on the mix and feedback controls is wider? Both the DD-3T and DM-2W are perfect around noon but very quickly become too much or too little as you go up or down. The DD-3 just has a bigger sweet spot to work with. Really nice!
I have a DD-5 and I do not like it. Maybe it's just that version...?

They just tried cramming too much shit into that thing.

I’ve never owned a Boss delay but I know I’ve used a DD-something in the past, probably borrowed from the music store I worked at. I always kinda thought of the DD’s as a utility delay, like a TS9 or a regular ole Crybaby. It does what it’s supposed to do and you can rely on one being at arm’s reach anywhere you go.

At the very least, it’s a series of delay pedals that one can buy if they don’t really give a shit about delays but need a decent one and at the very best, they’ve been Vai and Petrucci’s preferred delays for fly/clinic rigs for decades.™

The above turned into a Lovepedal love fest. The first vid is the Tchula and Zendrive into the clean channel of the Shiva, 2nd vid is all dirt channel. Mindless wankery, but the tones are great!

What trips me out the most is that those pickups are pretty low output but there is no lacking of balls on that bridge pickup. Those strings are dead, too!

Yes low output pickups just don’t push the preamp. There are a million better ways to do that. Just concentrate on tone and dynamics with pickups. Some of the best distortion tones on record are pafs. In Strats Fender guessed SRV’s pickups were overwound and made the Texas Special which is one of the worst pickups ever. When they actually had the guitar to read they where all around 6k.

That Shiva clean channel with a Strat is :chef

Sounds great, Drew! :beer

Pretty sure Gibson released a reproduction signature of Ace's black Les Paul, though I think there were some who complained as it wasn't one of his more "recognizable" Les Paul variety. The one Gibson based it on was for the Return of KISS/Unmasked Australian tour era. Frankly, I'd like a repro of his Explorer that he used rarely (not the Hamer or whatever). Don't tell Gibson, but it was an Ibanez (not like they give a shit; they've reproduced Slash's unauthentic clone for decades and pud stains buy them up regardless).

By the way, I find that black Les Paul you posted a tad confusing. The one used for the Return of KISS/Unmasked Australian tour eras was a 3 pickup, so obviously a different guitar. The one you posted, however, has some rumors and interesting possible history surrounding it. The general discussion seems to be that it was Paul's at one point (namely circa DTK/Alive! tours between 75 and 76). It seems that if this is the same guitar, then it went from covered pickups to DiMarzio pickups. Whether Ace bought it or whatever else is beside the point (Ace's guitar choices around this time were all quite interesting outside of his main guitar that everyone knows). There was the occasional appearance of the Ibanez Explorer that I mentioned, but for this guitar, there appears to have been, at some point, a modification to change it to a double cut away. Very strange.

The bones of this song was the first thing I wrote/recorded when I started teaching myself to record. I'm giving it a bit of a facelift and re-writing some of it. Getting this as tight as I want it won't be easy, especially copying the bass part.

I haven't been playing an awful lot this week, so think I'm going to start on a guitar project I've been meaning to get to.

I have one of those old Lindert guitars with the thumb's up headstock lol (makes a Tyler look like a dream in comparison). Going to tweak the headstock shape and repaint it and the whole body in gold sparkle. :love
Change the pickguard to a black color or something else but still dark. Not sure about which pickups yet, but I do want to have a piezo under the bridge and be able to blend into the output, or have on by itself. Should be a fun project.

I've done mods on mine over the years and it is in pieces at the moment. :grin

Here's what the guitar looks like in its original form -- this one is not mine though.

I actually played a shitload yesterday, both into the FM9T for a bit, then A LOT of AmpliTube Mesa Boogie. I am really loving the TC-100 and TA-30.
