What’s going on with Marshall??

Yeah. Marshall might be "cheaper" now, but they are also never in stock.

Yeah, I ordered my SC20H on backorder when prices first dropped. They told me it would take 3-4 months and I figured I could cancel the order if I wanted during the wait period. 2 1/2 months and it was sitting on my doorstep.

With the transition, they are probably building them as needed and not for stock. Which could also be part of the problem, why aren't the bigger box stores, GC, SW, etc. ordering 100 of the more popular models like the Studio's to keep in a warehouse somewhere here in the states?

teaser that doesn’t seem too hard to suss out - looks like Marshall are offering in house mods which is actually pretty fucking cool.

The “factory modified” badge could be a BRILLIANT marketing move for them. Things like adjustable bright cap values, alternate mid pot values, cascade mods, PPIV master.

Shit, do all those things and release it as the “Marshall Factory Modified Superlead” or whatever. There would be a run on fresh underwear in the guitar playing community.

Marshall doesn't even make covers, casters or replacement parts anymore. I wouldn't get yer hopes up.
They do make headphones, bluetooth speakers & sunglsses tho.

When they dropped the price, did they also transition to Vietnam? Or have they been made in asia for a long time now? Wondering if the lastest ones may not be of the same quality.

I could be wrong but I believe everything above the DSLs is still UK made. dSl and below have been Vietnam for a while now

I’ll also add that the Vietnamese DSLs are far more reliable than the disastrous UK made dsl401 s they made

The high US prices weren’t because of country of origin it was because of whatever dumb distribution company they were using

Also could be that their economy, and most of the rest of the world, still hasn't recovered as much as it has here in the States. Lots of other countries are still feeling the sting of higher inflation and lower GDP than us.

I was a lifelong Marshall guy, even bought a head + 4x12 when I was 16, haha. Worked all summer and saved for it.

Switched to Mesa in 2017 and never looked back. It's a bummer to see where Marshall is at these days.

I'm not sure any Mesa would do it for me, frankly. The Mark series might, but $4k is a lot of money and there is a lot of competition in that price range.

They moved the DSL and others to Vietnam right after ole man Jim [RIP] passed but not before like a bunch of money grubbing cheese dicks.
It took Jim Marshalls kids less than 12 years to destroy the company that took Jim 70 years to make.
