No trucks No roads challenge!!! Damnit!

And yeah… the damn truck breaks everything, and makes you turn the game into something completely else! Seems even worse in DS2 :rofl with some weird coffin thing
I wish you could use the Coffin Board with Floating Carriers tied to you. Basically surf board + carriers. That would make the game a lot more interesting. The way the coffin board only works within the chiral network also makes it useless for exploring any new areas so the Tri-Cruiser is always just better.

The game never gives you any incentive to use many of the tools it offers. Pickup Offloader has the best carry capacity, can mount two weapons, and a huge number of batteries. I wish they had gimped it so that it would be only useful when you have built roads or monorails.

Same thing for e.g backpack additions. Slap on some ammo boxes and anti-gravity tools and you can carry a lot of crap, which leaves no room for anything else. Backpack loadouts would've been a good feature.

For people playing this, I highly recommend building the monorails! They can act as ziplines, and you can easily transport cargo, vehicles and yourself across a good chunk of the map. And they are connected to mines which can create a lot of building materials for low investment. You can pick up so many chiral crystals that 1000-1600 is nothing later in the game. I think I have over 30K atm.

Just got a PS5 Pro this week and just downloaded some free games so far.

Think I've decided to get Death Stranding 2, good a place to start as any I guess.

I had a PS3, long ago, that I loved then tried 2 Xbox that never hung around for long. Can already tell the PS5 is staying, just fits me better.

Bad thing is I'm frikkin 58, and been outta this stuff for a long while. Maybe I'll pay for a month of plus as Lies of P is a freebie? Don't really yet care about multi-player, but BF6 may change things lol.

Definitely get PS Plus, even for a longer time. There's a vast catalog of games to explore.

Gotta admit, I wrote Lies of P off as a camp Bloodborne when I played the demo a couple of years ago, but it's actually a pretty great game in its own right.

Yeah it's solid. The storytelling is a bit cringe at times, and the level design is not From level, but the bosses and combat are pretty great. On top of that it's not a technical shitshow like From games with framerate limits and other nonsense.

I finished Death Stranding 2. That ending went to places I did not expect!

Overall, I think it's a solid but unremarkable sequel. It doesn't feel as fresh and unpredicable as the first game and doesn't do enough to elevate the core gameplay mechanics. It needed more vehicles and tools for transporting stuff.

I have all but a couple stretches of monorail track and roads to finish in DS2, which just goes to show how effective the mines are because I didn't even open all of them yet. When I sat down a couple weeks ago with the intent of only working on either or I found I had been shipping ceramics and metals to the closest facilities so I was already stocked up pretty well.

I wish they'd do a DLC like Stranding Stories or something where you basically experience a couple days surrounding a big event with whatever character you were playing. That'd be a great way to build up/fill in some lore while keeping the game active.

I played BF6 Hacksaw Ridge style on my last day. Just running around healing and reviving with firing a single shot. Impressed with how high up the leader board I managed to get.

I think the PS controller is much better than the XBox controller in terms of ergonomics, handling noise, etc. (Although the PS controller's touchpad is 99% pointless - basically treated as an oversized, awkwardly-positioned button most of the time.)

IMO the PS5 menus are organized more sensibly than the XBox's, too. It's only really a concern if you have kids in the house and have to worry about permissions/ security configuration, but OMG, Microsoft has a knack for making things very complicated. :facepalm (If you need to negotiate setting up a Minecraft account with Microsoft, hire a consultant.)

In the XBox's favor, I think Game Pass is a better value than PS+. PS+ has multiple tiers, and Sony will try to nickel-and-dime you into going for the most expensive tier. If you haven't played video games for a few years, you'll probably have no trouble getting your money's worth out of PS+, but I find that their catalog has lots of arbitrary omissions, tends to lag a year or so behind and pull games off unexpectedly, whereas Game Pass often has great games available the day they're released. I frequently find myself dragging my kids old XBox Series S into the bedroom because I can't find what I want to play on my PS5.

tl;dr - Lies of P "for free" is a great way to get started with a new console!

It's still not very good. Not that durable, the battery life sucks. It should have come with the DS Edge's back paddles from the start, and those should be individual buttons rather than just remapping other buttons. They do have very good latency performance though.

The Xbox controller is ridiculous by not having gyro even on the nicer models. It is the one thing holding gyro aim from becoming a standard feature on consoles, whether you want to use it or not.

I think Last of Us 2 supports it on PS5 so I definitely recommend giving gyro aim a try. Stick for coarse aim, gyro for nailing those headshots.

Absolutely. I've only used the Xbox Game Pass PC version but it's often a very good value. Games do disappear but at least it's shown in the "leaving soon" section. There's lots of new releases on Xbox Game Pass too, whereas PS+ is more like a catalog of older games unless you buy the priciest tier.

My tactic is to buy cheap Game Pass PC keys for a few months when a couple of games I want to play get released, play the games I want and others I want to try.

Honestly was enjoying Power Wash Simulator so much I cleared my data to restart the game lol.

My Switch stopped recognizing controllers as the rails were getting loose but I found out you can fix by tightening the screws on the side, so it's solid again now.

I'll probably end up buying a Switch 2 at some point later this year and get back into proper games. Especially if Silksong comes out. But I'm waiting on things like Tears of the Kingdom and the upcoming Borderlands 4 until I get the new console.

I will say the D-Pads on PS5 controllers are absolute trash - both in terms of feel and durability

Otherwise I really like the controller

The Dual Shock should certainly be more durable than it is, especially at the price (which Sony never ever discounts...) The last one we bought started drifting hard after just a couple of months. :idk

My main gripe about the XBox controller is that there are no bushings (o-rings?) around the sticks, so the controller is very loud mechanically. (Funny how I complain about the same things across all of my hobbies: UI/UX, and loud clacky buttons/controllers.) If I decide to play a game while someone else is trying to sleep, that's often a show-stopper.

Whenever I'm digging through PS+ looking for something to play, it always turns out that I've already bought anything that interests me, usually a couple of years prior. (Which obviously is not a coincidence.) Day one releases on Game Pass prevent me making rash decisions like that.

Anyway, if I can find at least one game I love (and haven't bought myself) I call the cost of these services a draw. But Sony just pulled Rogue Legacy 2 off PS+, and at the moment I'm down to zero. :/

What do you mean by this? They did release a Switch 2 version of ToTK and imo it's fantastic. Definitely wouldn't have played/finished it without it

I don't have a Switch 2 yet and haven't played TOTK yet, so waiting until I get the Switch 2 to play through it! I did replay and finished BOTW earlier this year and really liked it.

Game Pass is a fantastic value IMO...you get so many top tier games as part of the subscription. Only downside is they don't have a proper mobile Xbox so right now my teenager just uses it.

This is gonna go so hard; been waiting for this dude ever since they first started rolling out Sovereign bosses
