The "Going To An Audition" Thread

I never mentioned any of it. Just gonna break it out on them to weigh interest----and because
I want to hear the singer attempt it. :banana

They have a fairly fun list with a lot of songs I have not played before. From The Ramones to The Cult.

Gonna drop some Queensryche on them tomorrow, and see what comes of it. Worked
up Jet City Woman and I Don't Believe In Love.
waynes world thumbs up GIF

Them motherfuckers!! Last week was told to show this Wednesday. I am getting ready to pack up
and think, "I better send a text and check in." :idk

Get reply, "Other guitarist can't make it this week," and apparently no one was going to let me know. :horse

This is why we can't have nice things.

In spite of the cool digs and great singer, I am going to give this another week or two (next week
being the 4th of July I expect something to "come up"), and if things are still this chaotic and
unpredictable I am bailing. They can get some other guitarist to not show up because rehearsal
got cancelled for one reason or another. :facepalm

That sucks. It's one thing to have your band together and be up and running and say "ehh we don't need to practice this week" but if they are this flaky, this early; UGH.

And not totally on board with the whole deal of cancelling practice for one guy. That gives one guy too
much power---no matter who he is, or she is. Keep practice rolling and say, "We had a blast without you!"
and maybe that inspires the slackers to show up more consistently for fear of missing out.

For me; we are all there or no one is. That's just how our band rolls. We have been going for years, though. I would plan on a break week next week as well given the holiday. If they bail the week after that; I'd definitely hang up the idea for this group. Which sucks.

This is exactly why I hate bands, and if I'm being honest with myself, will probably never be in one again. It's so hard to find the right group of people, and just when you do, just when you think it's coming together, BAM, something happens.

My buddy, who has a great 80's band, has had to jump through all sorts of hoops to keep his band together, moving from drums, to bass, now learning keys (which isn't nearly as 'easy' as he thought it would be), to firing/re-hiring his party-drunk keyboardist brother a number of times, etc.

Another bud of mine has ditched bands altogether (the awesome bassist/singer) in favor of a solo acoustic act, and no amount of discussion will bring him back, even for a one-off show.

If I plan a party and no one shows I am still going to find a way to have an helluva good time. :beer

I hate the cancel the whole thing cause one person has something come up----because each week it
can be someone different. Oh, your turn to bail because of this and that. Next week the drummer. Week
after we draw straws to see who can't make it.

Just get your ass there or don't be "in a band." :facepalm

My Son was like, as he rolled his eyes, "Isn't this why you didn't want to do bands anymore."

Still have the Thursday night thing with the boys in my backpocket, but was excited about meeting
some new people and learning a few new tunes. I'll ride it out through July and see how many
hits versus misses there are. :beer
