Season 7 Week 5 Results and Totals

Twenty-one new pieces produced in week 5 for a total of 107 new pieces of music produced for S7! The reigning Champion PLX having another strong week hanging on to the lead! TVvoodoo and dbagchee making their S7 debuts! As usual, let me know if I have missed any entries or counted too many ;~)) Spreadsheet did not receive any attention this week, but will be a good way to look back on the challenge history and parse some fun details once completed! Thanks to all those who are contributing!! In addition to getting stuff out the door, you are encouraging others to pick up thy axe and grind ;~)) The rest of you are just posers!!! This week is your last chance in 2024 to become a TGF Recording Artist if you are not already!!! Nope, I counted it, but put it down as original-song. I will change it to deep space after I get back from dinner in a few hours!! It is in your total though, just wrong category ;~)) Sorry about that!

No. I played the parts normally and then reversed the waveform. Most DAWs have that edit option I imagine. The trick is making it work, especially if you have chord changes within the solo. Playing in a pentatonic scale makes that easier though.

I've written stuff and had to actually visualize the part forward ...and backwards.....and nailing it just right can be tough. I have reverse delay in a unit...and usually I just record it on a loop....to practice it and get it just right.

Yeah, the backwards technique is forgiving in some ways because it sounds exotic, so a bit of dissonance is ok. There are editing tricks with alignments and making it work with a key change but often times I just wing it and it works out.

I do it with chords sometimes.....and I can really do a number on my brain.....

Yeah, I suppose you could also map it and scale it out but that takes the fun out of it!
I'm all about spontaneity with that kind of thing.

You're making me want to play my acoustic more. I have it strung to Nashville tuning so it's not ideal for certain tunes at the moment.

Thanks dude.... actually the first time I've played mine since I've gotten the HILS ....that was taking all my practice time up.

I have now done one from each category....so I am happy. I had more plans....but my recording solution fell through.

Maybe I'll do a couple more covers.....these unaccompanied solo recordings are stressful. I'm an all in one take kind of dude.

I get that red light fever man....

I will say though ..this phone mic has been getting it done!!!!

Also I need that acoustic fuzz bro!!!!
