Think I'm gonna bust out like 30 ambient tracks this week...

#original-song

A song I wrote over 20 years ago.

Played it a couple times for the first time this year, an hour ago.....then pressed record on my camera.....really hi fi like 🤣

Like I've stated before.....live, in room, one take. My thing now I guess.

Damn sounds great for a phone recording! Fantastic tune and playing!

Thanks dude! The playing could have been better...but for one take, I'll accept it. It is honest and bare. I'm cool with it.🤣

Sometimes I wonder how I wrote some of things I have....I was a very ignorant player when I wrote this....but I still love it. This is a quick and dirty arrangement with no vocals. I can't remember the lyrics anymore.

I actually wrote it to commemorate the birth of my friend's son...but now it just floats around.

Not gonna lie, I was waiting for Mystikal to hop all up on dat!!!🤣🤣🤣

Seriously though, sweet!!!

What scale/mode are you working around there?
I'm working with a new collaborator on this one.. some bro off teh YouTube I just made contact wif today. He does some kick-ass ambient type music. Really lush sounding.

I have no idea WTF I'm doing because I play totally by ear. If I had to guess it's some harmonic minor, Phrygian dominant.

My pentatonic wanking does not work with this sort of track. :cop

Regardless ..keep ripping.

That beat was a bit busy....but....it worked.

Thanks I'll look into that.....I'll earmark the page in the practice book. I need to break from the major...and pentatonic myself.

I get everything visually, and just work from patterns on the fretboard.

Even then, you have to change what you're doing depending on the chord progression.. so there's no one scale that ever works for an entire track.

Funny thing is.....I just realized I have been playing with these patterns myself in a song I'm trying to piece together....in drop C, and this outside insight will unlock it I believe. Many thanks homie!🤘

Not even joking....this just solved the problem I had.... because I didn't know exactly what I was putting together chord wise in the song....now this makes it makes sense....and I just found like 3 different potential parts just from fiddling in the first position !!!🤘

Yeah, there's so many resources out there now on the Internets that really help.

I also watch lots of YouTube guitar teachers.. pick up what I can, where I can.

Oh I get it, I'm just not a very disciplined student, currently. I have 6 guitar grimoire books full of the patterns and all the info.

With me, I just practice the stuff over and over more as a warm up exercises....like 3 and 4 note coil, up and down the neck.....all the positions.

But then I don't apply it when it comes to building songs..... because I'm musically dyslexic and it all starts to lose its fun and become too much like work. But these are excuses and I should be better than that.

Thanks again for kicking me in the butt.

So yesterday I decided to ramble through the Fremen Axe FXIII preset for Floyd's "Shine On You Crazy Diamond". I think that rambling traveled to Michigan because somebody here wanted to make that song the focus of a posting this morning! Matrix moment IMO!! Anyway, here is my "Dine On Some Lazy Island", a guitar rambling using the preset for that song! #hot-noodle

I've been sick. But hey, I can pick a random scale and test out the notes over ambient reverb echoooooooes like anyone else can, right?

Strategically toss that iphone on the floor while it's recording for the perfect mix and that, my friends, is how you spiel der spiel...

But seriously, I'm probably done. Maybe. Who knows? In a day or two if I get better I might just go all-out on quantity over quality.

Feel better home slice!!! I'm just getting over mine.

Smashing Pumpkins - Hummer

Couldn't find one with a vocal track that wasn't trash, so this will have to do.

Not perfect, either am I. Some levels are a bit rough, but oh well. With no vocals I missed a cue in the middle...oops. The true spirit is in there, and you know it.

One take....in the room.

Still sort of sick...but I got time to "do something"😂

So I am going to make this one my #deep-space entry! It is pretty spacey for very large parts of this epic 8+ minute sh!t sandwich ;~)) I have once again taken a preset from the Fremen Floyd pack for the Axe FXIII and rambled through some of it's scenes with cowboy chords and pentatonic scale stuff. The preset was titled "Have A Cigar" and was built to emulate the sounds used on that Pink Floyd song. Make no mistake though, this does not sound anything like that song for many reasons, but that is the source of the sounds and inspiration. I have titled this beauty "Halve A Guitar" and the images of guitars in this video were generated using Midjourney AI. The assembly and transitions of the video were built using Adobe After Effects!
