Ha.. have you been.. been on the internet before?!

You being snarky is 1) totally acceptable, 2) somewhat to be expected, and 3) an immense part of your unique charm.

Company representatives should be a bit more tactful.
Especially when they don't know what they are talking about. :facepalm

Out of curiosity, what should Rabea being doing in order to not be a cringe puppet toolbag or whatever?

Seems to me he's made a playthrough video of one of his songs, with high production values and modern editing. Where is the crime exactly??

Not trying to be a douche just for the sake of it, but I'm genuinely curious what you guys (and other people here) actually want to see from Youtubers who demo guitar gear?

I watched that video yesterday. I quite liked it as a song, and the video semi reminded me of one that I did a long time ago now for a ThorpyFX Fallout Cloud demo.

Jeez, remember when rock bands would go on TV shows to play their new big hit without any of their guitars plugged in and badly lip syncing the words?

I'll take a polished YT video any day of the week. Plus I'm seen clips of Rabea playing live in front of 10s of thousands of people, so he's legit.
If he can cash a juicy check for playing along to one of his songs with very cool production values to be used as a commercial - good for him.

From my perspective, I can only put it as follows:-

By far my 2 fave gear reviewers are Leon Todd and Brett Kingman ... the fact that they are both Aussie's actually has nothing to do with it ... I swear :)

For me, Brett is the gold standard.

Both are clearly Fractal fans / users but that's never intruded on their gear reviews or opinions - at least not overtly or obviously.... they go deep enough to see and hear the key features both in terms of how they work and sound good and no-so-good.

Clearly both do sponsored reviews but they never hold back on their opinions one way or the other .... some might say they are Fractal "shills" - I dont agree at all - there is no doubt whatsoever that they use Fractal stuff because in their view they truly believe it is the best.

I have never got that vibe from Rabea.

Ever since Rabea jumped onboard the QC Train, I have never felt that he chose the QC because he thought it was the best ...... his growing and increasing effusiveness for QC and NDSP feels very "money fertilized" ... they gave him a plugin and he is featured in a lot of their promo video's - he is now "rusted on to them" ..... again nothing wrong with him doing that ..... but that doesn't mean others cant comment on it given he is "holding himself out there"

To me, everything NDSP does is so ludicrously and "monstrously" over-hyped ..... an automatic consequence of that is that they [obviously] want all "their assets" to be gushingly positive all the time ... and I think they pay handsomely for that ..... again .... its called the music "business" for a reason.

Having said all that, I really like the guy even though I've never met him. He has chosen to maximize his income by doing what he does ..... %100 nothing wrong with that at all ... more power to him ... I have zero ill-will for him and wish him the most success he can muster ... period.

For me, he just doesn't have the objective credibility or authenticity he may have once had ... especially compared to the other two I mentioned above ...... i.m.h.o .... he is [now] a fully bought and paid for "asset" / "seller" / "shill" for NDSP and EB ... and yet again ... there's nothing wrong with that ... but if that's how you position yourself in the Y/T world .... then dumb d*cks like me are going to, and have the right to, express our opinions about how he does what he does or doesn't do.

The really nausea inducing thing for me .... is what NDSP have done with this release and its marketing .... it is so over the top and so preposterously over-hyped that they have taken things to a whole new level of ultra-incredulity ... and that's not easy to do when you are already coming from NDSP's pre-existing level of "biblically-endorsed" products and propaganda.

Anyway .... I'll stop here as I am clearly overly-crapping on.

Ben

PS:- I tend to agree with you about Henning or Glenn Fricker .... on the odd occasion I start one of their video's I find myself tuning out very quickly.

Maybe the Nano really is that good...

Seriously, out of all the standard Ytuber guitar guys, Rabea genuinely seems like a down-to-earth good dude -- and he's a helluva player. It's obvious he's really into production and presentation, and wants to do that at a high level. Kudos to him. He's found a niche and is benefitting from it. He's doing all of this out in the open, so I wouldn't over-think it too much. No doubt he's putting a lot of effort into NDSP and that's his choice for better or worse. Maybe consumers should stop being so gullible with purchases generally speaking. There's a lot of things we don't need but the hype plays into our emotional needs. It happens. Best thing to do is to not watch it, read it, or listen to it if you don't want to take the chance of getting emotionally swayed.

I'll be honest I really only watch these types of videos if I'm interested in buying the device already. There were so damn many Nano videos I just watched one or two and thought "not for me" and skipped the rest.

The latest "Dipped In Tone" with Rhett Shull and Zach Broyles kind of nailed this topic. Social media is completely oversaturated with demos. It used to be kind of a fun and informative way to learn about gear, but now it's just mass marketing. Zach said he almost doesn't bother with doing them anymore because people aren't watching those videos anymore.

It doesn't change the respect I do or don't have for people making them...I still think Rabea's a hell of a guitarist for example and I like his actual music. I just don't bother with most of his demos because it always sounds like him and I'm bored of watching 30 minute ads.

I don’t get the hoopla. It’s a good product, portable, nice design, limited effects but really good tones, can be powered by a USB powerbank, great price, good intro for analog folks to the digital world. What’s not to like??

Funny, I think I only watched maybe 1 vid on that and picked it up. Priced very well and practical for practice and grab and go. Straight-forward features. Well worth the money for what you get, and then some. Line 6 has a great track record and that sways me more than anything. Maybe NDSP will achieve that kind of record as 10 more years goes by? They enjoy the hype game but maybe their product and tone rep will far surpass that some day.

Bruh..an essay complete with weird punctuation and bold letters. Again. You just can't help yourself, can you?

"It's only got three FX!"
"Well, that's just terrible."
"What's the deal with that boy Rabea's hair?"

"Oh, it's a mess."
"He should be ashamed."
"Could drop a few pounds too."

etc. etc. etc. :rofl

I think they did fine
Obviously they made what they think can sell and the fact they sold out in a day it worked for them

It’s right between full ToneX and Kemper player price wise

And I mean the app is way better than IK
Fx wise it very similar to Kemper

So overall I think they did a good job IMO
