Recto Multi Watt is Gone :(

Genx are the people most likely to afford a 4k dr and it was the amp born of their generation. Nothing i said was incorrect.
You are stating opinion as fact.

It is overly derivative to attribute an amp with a 30 year run SO FAR in professional rigs around the world in virtually every genre of music to a specific generation.

It really would have only been an “influential amp” for the very bottom end of Gen Xers though :idk

By the time the DR was seriously making waves the average Gen Xer was approaching their 30s if not well into their 30s.

Most folks get jaded/decide “music died” whenever they were 18-24

I saw a comment that a Mark V can Dual Rec, but a Dual Rec can't Mark V.

What do you guys think about that statement?

I’m a millennial who bought a revision G brand new in 1996 and watched over the next 5 years where literally everyone and their mother bought rectifiers.

We were laughing at gigs in the early 2000s because we’d be on a 4 band bill and every band had two rectos on stage. People were literally getting their amps mixed up.

But that didn’t happen..,because boomers or whatever.

They don’t do each other very well. I think it’s more that folks who found rectos too flubby found home in the Mark series lead channel because it is so surgically tight. It doesn’t sound like a rectifier but there are people who wanted their rectifier to sound like that, probably where that saying sprouted.

Fluff confirmed Gibson will not work with him after revealing that Randall was fired.
Also said the new RI Recto would be announced at Namm

dual rec can Mark V with a tube screamer no problem, Mark V can kinda dual rec with extreme mode (no negative feedback?) but the mark power amp can't really ever be as floppy as dual rec tube rectified. but that's a good thing cause mark V won't fold up into farts if you actually push it in extreme mode. and you can still dial out unpleasantries with the graphic. dual rec to me is like a standup bass, you seen a guy rip on a standup bass, he's cookin, breakneck speed, it's still gonna be floppy af. nature of the instrument. it's gonna be a mess unless you can lead the transient in to fall you want it, or boost the front to get enough pick attack to create a transient that sits on top you can just play 1:1 like a 5150 or mark

to be honest I think this whole situation is very childish and stupid. Especially from Gibson side. Like is the potential damage of such information could be so big? Anyways, Gibson and damage control is nuts.
Honestly it feels a bit personal, like Randall may have really offended someone high up in the ranks at Gibson. That said, Gibson is VERY on top of how their brand gets portrayed. This rift doesn’t surprise me at all from what I’ve seen at other corporations with toxic cultures.

We agree on most things gear, but strong disagree here. Adding a TS to a Recto is a sound, but it’s not a Mark lead sound. The mid honk ends up in the wrong spot, and the harmonic content is all wrong.

I went for this amp. Thanks for the heads up. I haven’t been able rationalize an almost $3k price tag on a new MW, but got the okay to proceed on a used one.
Awesome! Thanks for letting me know, glad this ended up being useful for someone. Hopefully they pack it well for you!

I’m getting it shipped to a nearby GC in case it has a bumpy trip.

I’ve also been mulling over just grabbing a new or used Mini Recto over the past year, but wanted to get in person experience the low end of a Dual Recto.

You made the better choice. The mini actually does sound VERY good, but you really want the big iron to experience what these amps do best.
