A Belated NAD: Mesa Dual Rectifier Multi-Watt

I don’t buy into this that we’re all suddenly nostalgic for old recto tones. I see bands playing these all the time still and it’s more a modern classic than a novelty from a bygone era. I consider it a very competent modern tone that’s useful in several genres, so I guess i don’t get the nostalgia aspect and consider it just marketing that’s working.

As somebody who recently got a 90's Dual Recto, I totally agree. It's not some weird niche sound that only makes sense if you play 90's music, it's just a solid great big sounding high gain amp that still sounds modern today, especially if you boost it right.

Yep that's the mini recto / RV25 experience. It's interesting the best sounding low volume recto is the road king, not the mini variants.

mine was actually the old rectoverb 50 combo

Maybe I would’ve had better results running it into a bigger closed back cab, but at the same time, the express 5:50+ I traded it for was also a 1x12 combo and I had none of the issues with not being able to hang with a drummer with that amp

Roadster also sounded pretty good at low volumes!

I've got the same 50 watt ROV combo. Ive only played it with a drummer once (which was also the first time I played it outside the house), but did find it seemed to disappear in the mix very quickly. I assumed it was just a dialling in thing where it was the first time I'd used the amp in anger.
