Recto Multi Watt is Gone :(

I mean, were multiwatts ever really sought after that this is such a big deal?? People have been hyping up iic+’s and rev F’s for as long as I can remember, then they make them and people get pissed lol. It looks like Marshall is doing some kind of “modded amp”, which people have been asking for forever, now people are bashing that already. Guitarist are funny lol
They are. I say bring on the products. Let us choose where our wallet goes.

We are. No doubt. Between fingers and gear… who knows? I kinda do but it took years to realize. Your experience as a guitarist lends to developing technique. A signature, Especially if lacking formal education or theory. It’s liberating and limiting.

To me, different gear matches with different goals and techniques. It’s why Billy Gibbons sound like he does and EVH sounds like he does.
The right hand is key for attack and the left is for further expression.

I’m still learning though.

I think they ended up like a lot of amps: initial hype saying they're awesome, then not much talk about them. Same deal for the Triple Crown.

I expect the exact same thing for the reissue Recto.

Honestly, if the Recto RI is what people are saying it is, basically something like an 80/20 mix of RevF/RevG Recto, then that’s totally fine with me and I’ll get one and love it. I’ve wanted a chrome chassis 2-channel Recto like that for a while but I don’t exactly love the idea of buying a 30 year old example of one for the kind of prices they go for. Maybe that’s sacrilege to say that on an amp forum but there you go.

But to your point, yep everybody and their mom knows what Rectos are so it’s probably not exactly going to change the world at this point. Then again maybe we’ll get a small resurgence of Recto music for a little while though (hopefully properly boosted this time instead of PRS guitars with low output passives plugged straight in like what happened in the 2000’s though, lol).

Rectors were nice at the time, but I agree. It is what it is nowadays and not particularly inspiring to me.

If you’re covering bands that use this sound it’s a hammer alright! Or perhaps if your writing new stuff that it suits.

dual rec was my generation's JCM800. imo it's objectively the perfect guitar tone, lows, mids (or not), and highs, with a breakup characteristic that retains a lot of jaggedness even in saturation, where palm mutes are still articulate over the top of a fully saturated foundation. I think the 800 gets all that mostly from the treble peaker

The demise of the MW has sparked my interest in these amps. The only trend I can see is that they kept updating it, and the older versions lost alot of value.

When they release the MW replacement, I expect the same thing will happen, unless the new DR is $3600.
Don't think $3600 is a hard limit. They're going over $4k soon. Almost all younger players are going to get pushed to digital modelers by these companies, and I'm saying that as a huge fan of Mesa.

Also will add that despite the the whole late 90s/early aughts prevalence of rectos in the main stream, that shit carried over HEAVILY into the mid 2000s “core” metal scenes. The recto and 5150 were both iconic tones/amps for those of us born 90–95 (possibly even later)
