Recto Multi Watt is Gone :(

They do sound great, but they’re a little darker than a MW is. Just something for people to be aware of.
Yep and IMO it's better as a result. I personally feel the Road King 2 / Roadster recto sounds to be the cream of the crop and they're my personal recto grailtone. But if you really want that top end of a classic recto sound, just dime the tone knob on your tubescreamer out front and you're in business.

it's better

better when you turn it up! roadster is a bedroom players wet dream even at whisper levels, but a cranked roadster feels like driving a semi truck. the lonestar cleans through the rectifier power section on tube power is...idk how to top it. but I've never really cranked a real tube fender super vibro twin verb face whatever. I dig floppy nasty "clean"

I love the MW. The thing I like best about it is how versatile it is and the different tones you can pull out of it.

The Clean and Pushed on 50W with tube rectification through a 4x12 is pretty damn amazing. The amp gets so pigeonholed into a chugging riff monster (which it is with a boost, and hey, it has a tread plate front fascia which is sick) that some of its other qualities can get overlooked IMO.

Put a $50 SD-1 in front of the Red and Orange Modern channels and they will rip, but turn off the boost and use the other settings and wattages and you’ve got a shitload of options at your disposal.

Like I said in my OP… it’s never getting sold, especially now that it’s all better.

I was almost getting GAS again. I was thinking, I had a three channel Recto but it wasn't the multi watt and I liked it a lot but didn't love it so I sold it. Then I started thinking...wait...was it a multi watt? I had to go and find the old pics.

GAS averted! It was a pretty sweet amp though.

Edit: and I got it from GC Used for $939 lol. That was Jan 2020.

What a great looking amp. I always thought the MW's should've had that Jute front as standard. The diamond plate really paints the amp into a corner, when the MW in particular is capable of so many other cool sounds besides the ultra gain stuff.

Then quite simply, you don't know enough guitar players.
:rofl
Isn't yours from 2018 or something? Bought used, correct?

Anyway, don't get me wrong, the MV Rectifier is killer. I actually may want another one eventually lol
But I would buy it used for sure, since they're not hard to find at around 1/2 the new price. Which does not help Mesa as far as new amp sales go.

Mesa has always been that way. They discontinue models or entire series all the time. DC, F, Express, Royal Atlantic, ED etc as soon as the sales slow down, they move on to the next line.

I just said I haven't seen many players, local or online, buying new MW Rectifiers recently. That's completely an anecdotal, personal and unproven observation, but the fact is they wouldn't be discontinuing it if they were selling tons of them.

What's the story with that foot switch? Is it midi?
No MIDI on the footswitch but they have separate 1/4 jacks for each function so it's easy to use it with a midi relay box.
Or you can use a relay box with a "Multi-pin" jack like the RJM Amp Gizmo, Voodoo Lab control switcher etc.
It's pretty easy to add MIDI to a Recto.

Capitalism is more important than art to some.

Auto-tuners on a classic Les Paul design from the 50’s? We’ve got you covered. Just buy our latest offering!

Enjoy a classic amp built 40 years ago?

Wait until you see our new product that shows you are mistaken!

Spend more money and make us all happy. Except for the fact that you are not happy and your hard earned money decreased by inflation from capitalism is delivering even less.

Jesus. What other iconic brands are going to fall in to this sinkhole? Hopefully Fender never does. Unless they have and I’m not aware of it.

Meh I wouldn’t get too dramatic…. Mesa has been constantly discontinuing amps and versions of amps for decades , -especially- the recto.

As far as the “boiler plate” recto goes, the MW has actually outlasted its predecessors by half a decade

I’m guessing they’ll pump up even more demand for the upcoming RI by having it be the only one available for a little while, and then by the end of the year or early next year drop a revamped “modern recto” with midi/cabclone/blah blah blah

Idk I feel like I see fender come under more heat than most other brands for their product cycle refreshers

I don’t really have a problem with any of it though, gotta keep things fresh. Changed up finish options, slightly tweaked features on product lines every X number of years seems logical imo :idk

I mean, were multiwatts ever really sought after that this is such a big deal?? People have been hyping up iic+’s and rev F’s for as long as I can remember, then they make them and people get pissed lol. It looks like Marshall is doing some kind of “modded amp”, which people have been asking for forever, now people are bashing that already. Guitarist are funny lol
