PRS SE - Amazing Consistency & Playability

No nitro on the original one.
But all USA parts and electrics, better than the newer versions. The best ones are when they changed the body wood to mahogany from Alder. My all time favourite CE was the Gold Top they released in the late 90s.

The necks on the original core CEs are definitely satin nitro. The bodies aren't but the necks are. It's quite annoying because the neck on mine has aged really nicely but the body has those annoying white cloudy sections that prs got in the 90s and early 2000s when they got dinged.

This is a January 2000 model

It’s polyurethane. They didn’t have the system in place to deal with the emissions then . I have talked with Paul about it at the time. It’s a thin hard finish and in no way worse but it’s not nitro .

I'll bow to your superior knowledge 99.9% of the time dude but not this time. I'm also going to be quoting the same source you are. Also polyurethane wouldn't have reacted the same way to a crappy guitar stand I had that this one did. That mark has always annoyed the crap out of me.

We are both wrong it’s Acrylic.

The difference in performance and feel in this particular use when it is so thin is hard to notice.
It could be nitro based on your clip but I have two PRS artists that I do work with and had a conversation with Paul about refinishing work around that time and he was complaining that he couldn’t use nitro on the production line.

Acrylic or polyurethane wouldn't have been damaged by my old crappy guitar stand though either. The reason I said we were quoting the same source is that I talked to paul about the damage on mine and he told me it had reacted because the ce and swamp ash models used a thin nitro finish on the necks.

Those old CEs definitely had nitro necks, not talking about body finishes here :idk
I could show you acrylic and urethane in the same application and it would be practically impossible to tell the difference. It’s only when it is thicker that you start to feel it and that is usually by the addition of plasticisers and how hard the finish is specifically designed not the type.

Yes ok nitro 🎉🍾🎉
You can see why I challenged it because Paul told me directly in a conversation about repainting a guitar for a PRS artist that he couldn’t use it because of emissions regulations.

Looks like some sales are starting. This looks like a pretty damn good price.
PRS SE McCarty 594 Singlecut Electric Guitar - Turquoise $599 new from sweetwater.
